Drip Curl Magic Posted March 5, 2006 Author Report Posted March 5, 2006 yeah true. If it's a Dell it you can press soemthing like CTRL F? to bring up the saved OS. Dell's (atleast the newest ones) use norton Ghost to save your OS on a hidden partition on the drive. It's not a Dell.... but are you familiar with VPR Matrix? Quote

Drip Curl Magic Posted March 5, 2006 Author Report Posted March 5, 2006 well, you could...but you are going to run into a problem when Windows asks you for the Activation code. it's not going to allow you to use that one twice. So, as far as the serial & activation code, your mom is right. But if you had a different serial and corresponding activation code, you could. (that's just a hypathetical, hehe) mmm, I'm probably better off just having my friend install a new *cough*pirated*cough* version of windows. Quote

C1ay Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 It's not a Dell.... but are you familiar with VPR Matrix? You might try VPR Tech Support.... Quote
Binary_Branflakes Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 You might try VPR Tech Support.... ...and then there is the legal route. LOL although tech support over the phone is usually enough to make you want to simply throw the pc out of the window....lol Quote
Drip Curl Magic Posted March 5, 2006 Author Report Posted March 5, 2006 I would think in this case it could be justified because you had Win XP in the first place. :hyper: But of course. :steering: it does seem justified to get the same version of windows.... It would probably be just as easy to upgrade from home edition to pro. That would be fun. Hypathetical, of course.:Alien: Quote

Drip Curl Magic Posted March 5, 2006 Author Report Posted March 5, 2006 Thank you guys for giving me some more ideas and options. I'm gonna contact tech support first and see if I can just buy a new restore CD... I'm not getting my hopes up, though... And if it comes down to it, I'll ask my nerdy friends to help me out with a new version of windows. Quote
Binary_Branflakes Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 You are welcome! Glad to help. good luck in your endevour! hey...look at it this way, even though this is frustrating, you are learning something you may not have learned had this not have happened. oh, and in the future, if you do a restore, try googling for your drivers before using the Windows CDs. Avoid some headaches if you aren't sure what you are looking for in the first place. Quote
