Michaelangelica Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Plastic plants.Plastic plants in offices, clubs, pubs, homes, government buildings, McDonald's etcWhy?1. Real plants breathe out oxygen and help purify the air (NASA has done some research on this.) Plastic plants are bad for the environment. They gather dust.2. Plastic plants take up space that should be given over to real plants. We have chopped so much down . If every 50 story office building crammed as many live plants onto each floor as possible then cities might end up having more biomass than before the city was built or even thought of. This would have to help the mico-fine pollution in out big Cities.3. Plastic plants use up oil in their manufacture. Why throw away oil on such a silly use? 5 Plastic plants imply that we have given up. That growing anything is too hard.6. Plastic plants are too perfect. So what is wrong about looking at a dead leaf now and again. Things grow things die. Get used to it. The too perfect plants are for obsessive compulsive office managers.7 add your own reason here . . .. . . ."Plastic plants. . . I would like to start a terrorist organisation (that phrase should catch the CIA web scanners?) which would put big (irremovable) stickers on every plastic plant; saying ( suggestions please, I am still working on this) THIS IS A PLASTIC PLANT. WHY?-- Michael Quote

ronthepon Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 What reaaaly bugs me the most is a guy stubborn as a mule about his beliefs! (How can you tell a policeman that I'm old enough to ride a bike in town...?) Quote
Pyrotex Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 What reaaaly bugs me the most is a guy stubborn as a mule about his beliefs!I almost agree with you. Most of the time when someone is this stubborn, I just ignore them. But there are two specific occassions when these guys really bug me, too: When they are totally wrong. When they are absolutely right. Quote
learnin to learn Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 What really bugs me is someone who claims they are your friend, but they talk bad about you behind your back. Quote

Michaelangelica Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 People, especially journalists who should know better, who use the words decimate and disinterested incorrectly. The epidemic is so bad that even the dictionaries are changing the definitions of the words because of such widespread misuse. Decimate (from latin deca =ten) to reduce by one tenth. It does not mean annihilate. Disinterested means impartial, not "not interested"A disinterested judge is one who is impartial not asleep. Quote
Pyrotex Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 NASA semi-bigwigs who are more concerned with your use of commas and whether or not your paragraphs are all indented exactly alike, then they are about the analysis and conclusions in your 50-page research document that it took you 4 months to write. Jeez!!! Quote

Jeez!!!This is a game called "I'm OK Your not OK" (according to Transactional Analysis) It gives NASA an opportunity of showing their superiority without addressing the real issues. (Which maybe they can't cope with?) Quote
Pyrotex Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 Rat own, dudes! 90% of everyone at NASA has CYA as their Job 1. The other 10% of us get all the work done! Another thing that REALLY bugs me is that in our Hypo website, every day, there is an ad for "Expelled" -- the most brainless and stupid anti-evolution movie ever made. It is a crock of excrement. Quote
