TheFaithfulStone Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Hey, Craig, looks like Mother Nature beat you to it. It's about halfway down, where the explain this interstellar gas cloud is like a big ol' light delay box. You can take a peek at Sag A* past using something pretty similar to the same technique. Neato. TFS Quote
Greg_G47 Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 There's nothing really paradoxical about this. The events in the past caused an image to appear in the future. It's no more paradoxical than recording a movie with your webcam and burying your laptop for 10k years. The information was "stored" in radiation travelling through space and recovered at a time (dependent on the path length) later on. If a reflective surface that provided a good image of earth could be imaged at a distance, we'd see a nice view of what the earth looked like 10k years ago. Even when you look in the mirror you're seeing a slightly "old" image due to the travel time of the light. Quote
