matrixscarface Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 Suppose Special Relativity is true, that the theory is correct, and that we have lived along this since time began, suppose it stopped. suppose that this is how the universe were to end, and special relativity stop suddenly, right at this moment. what would be the consequence? lets see how creative you all are... kamil Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 suppose it stopped. How exactly? As in its concequences (time dilation, lenght contraction etc.) would no longer apply, well then i guess the laws of electromagnetism wouldn't hold true as they would contradict simple mechanics.............. i guess this would lead to us having a Newtonian perception of space adn time. Wierd question IMO. Quote

Qfwfq Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 Longitudinal and transverse mass? They have no place in a proper, Lorentz-covariant formulation. I thought you would know better than that Uncle Al. p_µ = m u_µ, m^2 = E^2 - p^2 Quote

arkain101 Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 A satalite adjusts its clock to match the time at earth. If the satalite is experiencing what it concludes as regular time, then in fact, earth 'time' is speeding up. I have heard people try to explain to me that a fast moving (fast enough for visual time dialtion) object would see things around it slow down in time. But, if a satalite has to adjust ahead to match (if you look from its frame) earths time, then obviously earth is appearing to travel into the future. Physics WOULD HAVE to change as it became apparent that objects sped up through time on earth from the satalites perspective. Bada bap da da Quote

UncleAl Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 The clock that passes through the most space records the least time. There is no symmetry ambiguity or any other ambiguity. Qfwfq Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 Who are you saying that to, and who said anything to the contrary concerning time? Quit being an old grump Uncle Al, regardless of whether anyone here is ignorant or stupid. If you say these things, disregarding courtesy and forum rules, at least have the face to specify what exactly you refer it too. Quote
hallenrm Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 Suppose Special ........special relativity stop suddenly, right at this moment. what would be the consequence? lets see how creative you all are... What do you mean by saying "special relativity stop suddenly"??? Theories do not move!! They are the realizations of an individual/s at a particular time:confused: Quote
