aiden_thomas Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Hi there. I am at this forum to get all your information :xx:At the oment i am doing an assignment for a school project, and we have to pick a social/political problem/issue. I have picked Capital punishment, and i am hoping i can find some good information on this, as i am hoping to reach a level 6 in work (A+). Well thanks for having me  Quote
ingannilo Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 you might want to be a little more specific in your request for information, as I don't think there's anyone here who'd want to write the paper for you. At least not for free . j/k. Seriously, what are you looking for? History of capital punishment? If so, where? Country, (if US) state? Detailed answers require detailed questions. Quote
pgrmdave Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 I'd suggest starting with this thread:http://hypography.com/forums/social-sciences/1330-does-capital-punishment-reduce-crime.html Quote
aiden_thomas Posted April 4, 2006 Author Report Posted April 4, 2006 Hey, thanks for showing some interest. I am doing a paper on capital punishment in Australia, as australia does not have this punishment for crimes. I have decided to do a report on whether capital punishment is human and okay, and whether or not australia should bring this punishment back. Lol, I'm not looking for any one to do my paper, but thanks for helping, 'ay. Quote
InfiniteNow Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Howdy aiden, Welcome aboard. Hopefully you will continue to observe and contribute to these forums after your project is done. Anyway, best of luck. In addition to the link posted above, perhaps you will gain additional insights by browsing the following (fyi, the search feature on this site is pretty handy): http://hypography.com/forums/social-sciences/5781-whats-better-than-punishment.html http://hypography.com/forums/social-sciences/4297-eventually-death-penality-abolished.html http://hypography.com/forums/philosophy-humanities/864-death-life.html Cheers. :rainbow: Quote
Pyrotex Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Howdy aiden,... :hihi:Aiden, how about if we ask YOU some questions? That is also a good source of information. And it helps you to decide what it is that YOU think about the subject. For example, if the death penalty were brought back in Australia, how do you think criminals should be killed? Another question, if the death penalty were brought back, should executions be video-taped and broadcast, or shown live on television, or kept hidden from view? Why? Quote
InfiniteNow Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Pay-per-view... all the way. Cause you know how much money boxing and UFC rakes in? Just think of how society would desire to satisfy it's morbid curiousity and blood lust... they could even organize events like a super bowl party... Buffalo wings, chips, guacamole, beer... How would the betting system work though? Maybe bet on how long it takes for the heart to stop or something. No, I'm serious. If the puritanical outcries wouldn't overwhelm the implementers of censorship, this would be a smashing success. Quote

If the puritanical outcries wouldn't overwhelm the implementers of censorship, this would be a smashing success.I would take it a step further. Have a small ledge 300 feet above a concrete area that is marked with different zones. The person being killed is forced out onto a ledge just small enough to stand uncomfortably. Nothing to hold on to. Maybe there is something they can jump out and try and grab onto that they can hang from for a while longer if they can reach it. You can wager on how long before they drop, where they hit, how they hit, etc. The convicted would even be able to rig the game by giving his family inside information about what to bet on. Like last second life insurance. The addition of gambling and suspense would make it a real winner! Bill Quote

InfiniteNow Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Anybody see The Running Man, with Schwarzenegger?Absolutely. Good call, pgrmdave! If you'd like to be a contestant on The Running Man, send a self addressed stamped envelope to I.C.S. Talent Hunt, care of your local affiliate, and then go out and do something really despicable. aiden_thomas Posted April 6, 2006 Author Report Posted April 6, 2006 Hey, thanks so much guys, this is a big help. Your brains are excellent. No seriously. Aiden, how about if we ask YOU some questions? That is also a good source of information. And it helps you to decide what it is that YOU think about the subject. For example, if the death penalty were brought back in Australia, how do you think criminals should be killed?...Well i think that it shouldn't be brought back. With religions such as buddism and christianity changing peoples lives, there is no need to take their life. Plus their is the problem of killing some one that could even be innocent. Any one seen that new show prison break? i know it is fake, but it is a good example of some one getting the sentance of death, for a crime they did not commit. Thanks guys, i will continue this in my work book. This has been a big help InfiniteNow 1 Quote
InfiniteNow Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 I still smile when I hear an enthusiastic student excited about learning and discussing opinions intelligently. Best of luck with everything Aiden. :cup: Quote
aiden_thomas Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 Thanks for that. I'm always excited about going and listening to my teacher Mrs. Annen drone on and on and on. We had a good history teacher last year, and i was looking forward to doing history in year 11, but he got fired. Now Mrs Annen does history. Its sorta curbed me off it. Now I'm into drama art and music. YAY!! Quote
