Drip Curl Magic Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 A cute little bunny! It's doing pretty well except for a small puncture wound. But I cleaned that up as best I could with some hydrogen peroxide. Anyways. I was wondering if there was much of a difference between domestic bunnys and wild bunnys...? And if so, is it a bad idea for me to try to domesticate the little thing? I don't wanna let it go, because my cat'll find it again. I don't know what I should do.... but it would be a pleasure for me to raise it. I just don't know if that would ultimately be good for an animal that came straight out of the wild. Any help is much appreciated.;) Racoon 1 Quote

Queso Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 also, should i grate the carrots? do carrots grate themselves in the wild? NO Quote
Drip Curl Magic Posted April 6, 2006 Author Report Posted April 6, 2006 All I know is don't feed it iceburg lettuce It'll DIE yeah, iceburg lettuce has hardly any nutritional value. I figure that feeding it iceburg lettuce would probably not be the best food.... as it would for the most part.... be about the same as drinking some water. Quote
Drip Curl Magic Posted April 6, 2006 Author Report Posted April 6, 2006 do carrots grate themselves in the wild? NO The mommy might do it for them? I dunno... it's a little baby. Probably no older than a week and a half to two weeks old. I just don't know how to care for it. mehhh. Quote

Queso Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 did the cat carry it in it's mouth? that thing is so damn cute it makes me want to explode Quote
Drip Curl Magic Posted April 6, 2006 Author Report Posted April 6, 2006 Yeah, it did. This is the 4th baby rabbit my cat has caught this week. This was the only one that has survived, though. usually they have heart attacks from being scared. sometimes he'll take a chomp out of them. But usually, he doesn't hunt for the food.... He just bats them around until their hearts give out... then leaves them on the porch for us to find. That's why i was so surprised that this one was still alive. Only one punture wound... as far as I can tell. Lucky little thing. Quote
Drip Curl Magic Posted April 6, 2006 Author Report Posted April 6, 2006 well, the bunny just recently died. it was just starting to get stiff when I went in to check on it. I feel really bad. I tried to save it. but I may have just prolonged its suffering. ugh. What a horrible way to end such a perfect night. Chacmool 1 Quote
Drip Curl Magic Posted April 6, 2006 Author Report Posted April 6, 2006 perhaps it wasn't old enough to eat solid food. ****. I knew it. But my mom said it was probably too old. I should have atleast tried. ****. Quote
Jay-qu Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 more than likely there was nothing you could do - dont worry bout it to much, you did try and thats all that counts, its not like it could have died of starvation in the few hours it was with you.. Quote
ughaibu Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 My sister has kept a couple of rabbits, if I remember correctly carrots aren't rabbit food. Dandelion leaves and potato skins, I think were the basics. Quote

I hope you're right. I hope it wasn't hungry or dehydrated. I just hope it wasn't my fault. I only had that thing for a few hours.... but man.... that thing was just too damn cute to die like that.
