Queso Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 Dear members of Hypography,The time has come where I worry about my health. I've been bit, but something.I am assuming a spider.in two spots on my arm. They've been visible for about 5 days, and getting less itchy. But, my arm is now veryvery weak.and sore. It's kind of hard to type, and move it around. Is this just because I played dodgeball on monday for the first time in years?Or should I go to the doctor?:Tupac: Quote

C1ay Posted April 6, 2006 Report Posted April 6, 2006 I suspect your are fine if it has been 5 days since your bite. There are 3 spiders in the U.S. which have a medically significant bite; the Brown Recluse, the Hobo Spider and the Black Widow. Both the Brown Recluse and Hobo Spider have necrotic, tissue destroying bites. With both of these you will have a festering area around the bite in 24 to 36 hours if invenomated. These spiders are also known to give dry bites for which you will have no effects. The Black Widow's bite attacks the nervous system. It usually results in severe abdominal stress, nausea and cramping, within hours after the bite. It's entirely possible that you do have a spider bite from some insignificant spider that's causing an allergic reaction but it should subside pretty soon. Don't worry about it getting to your heart in your sleep, after 5 days it's gotten there already. Quote
