frog Posted February 11, 2002 Report Posted February 11, 2002 The study of gamma-ray bursts is very exciting. If we can better understand the 'birth' and evolution of the Universe, we shall be in a much better position to predict the future. The NASA website has interesting news on gamma-ray burst, and I hope Hypography Sci-Tech will bring more on this topic.
Tormod Posted February 12, 2002 Report Posted February 12, 2002 Thanks, frog, that's a good idea. In fact, expect a review of Marcus Chown's book "The Magic Furnace" very soon - it covers the evolution of the stars from the Big Bang until today, and gives clues as to how to interpret the gamma ray bursts. It should also be a great topic for a future hypography special.
