chamilton333 Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 if we could totally program a new synthetic cell, not even using any base DNA, we could "program" a cell to multiply in a certain way and respond to certain stymulus. this way we could have organisms that would work as nanotech but they would multiply. if they multiplied asexually, than you would get exact copies of the original cell/nanotech. they could be programmed much the same way as an unmanned vehicle. it would be instinctive for it to do certain jobs, such as cleaning the toilet or keeping input/output contacts clean.
