Celeste Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 As long as one doesn't have neurological or neurodegenerative disorders, it's usually caused by electrolyte imbalances, lactic acid buildup or from poor circulation, ie. sitting to long, tight shoes, etc. Calcium, magnesium and protein can help, along with vit E for circulation. If the spasms get worse with Cal and Mag, try a higher protein diet and Vit C to help reduce the high levels of Cal.Potassium and sodium (found in sports drinks) helps for exercise induced spasms. Mercedes Benzene Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 If I recall correctly, certain hormonal imbalances/problems can cause muscle spasms. I believe one condition was Parahypothyroidism?? But I would assume that would cause other problems in addition to just muscle spasms. Quote
