freeztar Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 I'm pretty shocked and frankly a little concerned about the current results of the poll, with about 70% for and 30% against. :eek_big: I figured there'd be a stray here or there, but that's almost a third of the folks who answered! I can't imagine not wanting World Peace. It's an ideal...never truly obtainable. The only consolation for my troubled mind is that people misread the question. The question was "Do you want World Peace?", not "Should world peace exist?".Here's hoping anyways... Quote
Fatstep Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Why want something that's unobtainable, that's foolish. My answer is no. Quote
freeztar Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Why want something that's unobtainable, that's foolish. My answer is no. Want, or desire, is not limited by reality. To want something so much is to push oneself in the direction of obtaining it.If enough people wanted peace simultaneously, then nuclear disarmament and much more could be realized. An ideal is never obtainable, but those who strive for that ideal come closest to achieving it. Quote
Queso Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 World peace will not be obtained. It will be realized that it was here all along. ....duh..... Quote
InfiniteNow Posted June 16, 2007 Author Report Posted June 16, 2007 The voting currently stands at 44 in the affirmative, 20 in the negative. I still approach those results with shock and confusion. Quote

Boerseun Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Well, if we had total and complete world peace, there'd be really nothing left to watch on television. Quote

Boerseun Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 What about the Home Shopping Network, eh?Weather Channel?Sports?I think the Home Shopping Network is one of the primary reasons countries go to war. It's just to alleviate the soul-sucking boredom of what's on the telly. Quote

DougF Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 I hope to see nations eventually dissolving so we become one big nation, The United Nations of Planet Earth Then we will be getting somewhereI want world peace (voted Yes) and I think this will be the only way!We all can get along here at Hypography why knot the world? :smilingsun: Today Hypography tomorrow the world. Note: I think this well be attainable after we find life outside of our world,we well have to start looking at people (other lifeforms) for who / what they are and not the pettier racisms that is to abundant now. :smilingsun: :) Quote

Peacemaker Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Amen to that Brother. I have a feeling the arms industry and the military have been trying to 'stuff' the voting poles to keep their jobs, and the mortgage paid. Pity these people don't really know what they are voting for eh? If they had ever been anywhere near a real war they would never want to see it again. 'There are none so blind as those who WILL not see'. Best regards to all, (even them). Peacemaker. Quote

Peacemaker Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 The main reason that things are invented during wartime is that there is so much more money available during wartime for research into areas which would not receive funding during peacetime. Another facet of the existence of money, stifling inventiveness and progress. Best regards, Peacemaker. Quote
Boerseun Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 I see a future where the decision to go to war or not will be determined by television ratings...:) Quote
DougF Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 I can see that just like "the Running Man" it's all determined by television ratings. The Running Man (1987) Quote
