looking for information on dog evolution and relationships to people for an anthro paper. Have some information, would welcome more, if it is from a science article, journal or related text. Bonnie Shirley, bonnieallmine

thank you, I did buy one of the books listed. I have quite a few books now, but am always looking for more. Most of the older books are not too accurate on dog evolution, but some of the information is still useful. Bonnie

There are interesting similarities. Wolves are pack animals, and in many respects, so are humans. The overlap is where I'd focus.

 

Most likely (personal guess, nothing more), wolves began approaching humans due to the smell of their meats cooking on the fire. Humans having extra probably threw some scraps to the wolves they began recognizing. The relationship grew from there, and humans enjoyed having them as companions. Then, we started favoring certain types, and selectively breeding, and *poof* now we have great danes and daschunds and pit bulls and labradoodles. :hyper:
