MagnetMan
Carpul tunnel sufferers, buy a strip of rubberized sheet magnet 6" wide by a foot from any sign and banner maker for about $3. With a pair of scissors, cut strips to suit your purpose and wrap with elastic bandage around wrist with a strip on either side - magnetic side facing away from the skin on both sides ( negative to negative facing) Within a day or two pain, cramping of fingers and other discomforts should disappear completely. Put in your shoes and stand or walk all day without getting tired. Mount a piece on a metal plate (shape of a soccer shinguard) and stick into your belt behind your back and you weill be able to work all day with your hands above your head without getting tired (sheet rock ceilings, motor mechanics and fruit pickers etc.)

InfiniteNow
It's actually surprising just how many magnets, as well as magnetized materials, suffer from some sort of depression or anxiety disorders. Normal pharmaceuticals haven't proven too effective, and I think magnet therapy is really the way to go. Treat the cause not the symptoms, ya know? Pyrotex
A long magnetic strip around the forehead will also cure:headaches, acne, smallpox, sinus cancer, sexual addiction, ******* behavior, belief in UFOs, compulsive giggling, mouth-breathing, staring at women's boobs, hearing "voices", delusions of adequacy, political conservatism, facial tics and a fondness for "Beavis & Butthead" movies. However, actual laboratory tests show that magnets have no affect on male pattern baldness.

MagnetMan
It might well be just a placebo effect. Who really knows? But if it works and relieves accute pain, why argue? Magnets are magical. One of the great invisible forces of the universe.

One of the great invisible forces of the universe. No, it is not the placebo effect. Carpal tunnel pain is caused by inflamation of the sheath around the nerves and tendons through the wrist. You can "cure" it by stopping the irritation the inflamation. A strip of non-magnetic plastic held along the wrist and palm by a winding of cotton bandage will serve as a 'splint' and hold the wrist and hand in place. Any act of prohibiting wrist, hand and excess finger movements will work just as well, because it reduces or eliminates the irritation. It's NOT the magnetic field that cures Carpal Tunnel pain -- it's merely splinting the wrist and eliminating the irritation. Duh! :cup:

It opens up a whole new world. Does it work on the back and feet as well Doctor?
Jules Grimm
Who knows? Maybe this could become the next billion dollar alterntive health and therapy fad. Just place a piece of plastic near the source of the pain and it will go away, possibly... Wish the guys that use magnetic therapy would use a little common sense and skeptiscism some time.
