now this may seem daft but some guy told me that chaps with lots of brains like Stephen Hawkins dont understand how the human body can pass thru a door way without going pair shaped literaly , any body know if this is true and why

well the science could be something to do with de broglie wavelengths and such.. but in this contex the scale in much to large so yes it is nonsense.
