Lancaster Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Has anyone read the His Dark Materials series? If so, what did you think of the ending? (If you don't know what it is:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/His_dark_materials) Quote
Tormod Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I never read this. Is it more fantasy than sci-fi, or a mix of both? Welcome to our site! Quote
Lancaster Posted May 9, 2006 Author Report Posted May 9, 2006 Thank you. It's sort of a fantasy, sci-fi, philisophical, metaphysical hybrid. The trilogy certainly raises some questions and is quite enjoyable. Philip Pullman, the author has been under fire ever since they were released, because of the way he potrays the church. Quote
betrayer_of_hope Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 His Dark Materials is one of the best series I have ever read! Pullman basically pulls apart every foundation on which the church has been laid. While I wouldn't give that as a reason for reading the book, i just hope some people wont be shocked when they read it. Pullman is easily one of the most original writers in recent times. The book has many philosophical aspects as well. A must read indeed! Quote
