Happiness! Thats right up there with Love...

Consider these words:

The measure of the moral worth of a man is his happiness. Happiness is the synonym of well-being

In order to achieve happiness or the right conduct of life, one must aquire knowledge - so he can, think, reason and create.

Knowledge creates desire for the beautiful.

Everybody is capable of obtaining happiness, but the matter of going on, or taking action to obtain it, is in question...

Are you Happy? And what makes you Happy?

Why do you suppose so many people are depressed these days?

I would be lying to say that I am happy 100% of the time - sometimes things can be hard but overall I love life and I enjoy the challenges it brings

I've found that I'm the happiest when I'm working with my hands. Sooooo, whenever I catch myself developing a fowl mood, I find something to build. I have a machine shop in my garage, mill, lath, surface grinder, and plenty of projects already started. Most of my effort is spent building on my Hot Rod. The American muscle car has always been one of my favorite past times and I involve myself in related projects the point of exhaustion every chance I get. So yes, I'm blest to live in this land America where these opportunities are available for those interested. I've really never been able to understand why some people seem to be bored most of their lives when there are so many things one can become interested in. Pursuing one's interests is the key to staying happy in my humble opinion.....................Infy

and hows the top-secret Survival Wagon coming along?

Consider these words as well everybody:

"Realizing that my emotions are both Positive and Negative, I will form daily habits which encourage the development of the positive emotions and aid me in converting the negative emotions into some form of useful action."

I didn't say I was unhappy.

I'm just sitting here reading,

not necessarily happy.

Just being,

feeling whatever.

Antenna and thinking about

my receieved.

Though I am able to sit there having a sense of just 'being' and feel happy with just existing in such an amazing universe.. I dont think that happiness is all that abnormal

:)

Actually, my Survival Wagon has a 650 horse power, 340 cu/in, 14.6:1 compression, .646" solid lifter camshaft. A 513:1 axle ratio with a spool, 11.5" slicks, and a 4500 rpm stall converter. Runs the 1/8 mile in 6.4 seconds @ 106 MPH. I just love my survival wagon when it's doing a burn-out, and even better when it launches with a hard .50 light.............Infy

happy.

Human behaviour is often propelled by cause and effect. Our cause is for getting doing an action that creates the effect of a payoff. Payoffs can often induce happiness, or temporary well being.

WE get what WE want and it feels good.

However we can alterate this basic nature. Do we feel happy when someone we know dies? Not people that we care about. However if we are 100% convinced they are going to a better place, we might feel happy or them.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change. This method can lead you to seeming insane or otherwise.

Am I happy?

In life I take experiences and wisely organize the details and meaning of each one to try and achieve the result I want. We have the option to follow natural human behaviour, which is almost programmed in an instinctive way, or a intellegently designed way.

A relationship between two people ends. They were in love but things werent working out.

The natural and instinctive way is to become upset. Our payoff source is no longer ours. The relationship was full of mean words and arguments. Two people waisiting there time together in a serious relationship. The only reason it went on is that certain payoffs in certian situations were there. A fullfillment of lonilness. Sexual satasfaction, etc.

The intelligently designed way is to feel thankful that the stressful weight in your life is no longer there. To think beyond the loss of our loved one. A companion who is a great resource in the needs of natural survival, full of payoffs for our internal self. Also, to investigate the valuable lessons we have aquired from the experience with this individual. These lessons are the problems certain issues can manifest in a relationship for both sides. These lessons are skills learned that would otherwise not have been without the chance and sacrifice taken at the beginning for possible pain and loss.

People are starving in other countries. We feel there pain. Feeling there pain accomplishes nothing. It does motivate us though. We can feel happy that this experience of having global knowledge is teaching us the horrors of starvation of which we know of and will avoid at all costs of that what we can help.

I suppose its all pretty relative.

I would have the poll reworded slightly, say "Are you satisfied with life". Happiness is generally a transient feeling, satisfaction with life is on the other hand an averaged out emotion:)

amongst all the posts in this thread I would go along with the opinion of orby:lol:

Happiness is a bubble (I know that this is not original from me, okay?) it lasts for five days before some devil sent assignment from hell comes and makes my life a misery.

I cannot help but comment on the clear distinction between true contentment and happiness.

So I can't help but agree with hallenrm.
