Racoon Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 hey!look who's driving fast... I am opposed to the senseless Gas Waste that is NASCAR, BUT, there is no denying its growing popularity! :) So, Nextel Cup nuts, who's your favorite Corporate Race Team?and why? No Jeff Gordon !! () Greg Biffle all the way sucka' s! Heres your chance to discuss turning in a left circle for hours and hours. :) Quote

UncleAl Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 Fuel ethanol. Gasohol. H*Y*D*R*O*G*E*N cars. Hybrids. E*L*E*C*T*R*I*C cars. Biodiesel. All the things your corrupt malicious government wants to shove down your throat. HA HA HA Don't forget the catalytic converter and the carbon dioxide recovery unit. Conservation - somebody else in the future deserves to consume it; and not them, either. Quote
Buffy Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 Advertising runs the world. Get over it. :) I like the current and former DEI guys: Michael Waltrip and Dale Jr... Michael is the best pitch man in Nascar, hands down. Just check out his Napa and Aaron's ads. What a ham. Also his wife's name is.... Junior is such a darn nice guy. He's the only one I'd really have any desire to date... I would never even touch Budweiser, but that Bud ad with baby clydesdale is so cute, it brings both of us to tears.... Carl Edwards is a close third...cute and he does flips! Inside! Inside! Clear!Buffy Quote
Buffy Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 I should have been a marketing major. Its never too late!!!I coulda' swore you were a Jeff Gordon fan! I read it in one of your posts! :) Non-obviously, facetiously. For some reason he has the rep as the "most-desirable-bachelor" on the circuit, but I don't really agree! :)Those wall-apes are so synchronized. I bet they practice a lot.Unbelievable competition to get on pit crews, and as a result, they don't make much money except for the top teams....brutal!Why aren't there any female drivers? (Dana Kirpatric doesn't count, shes F-1) That's "Danica Patrick" and she's Indy Car, not F1. Both Nascar and F1 are hostile to women, F1 moreso, while Nascar is learning: Shawna Robinson and Erin Crocker have been active in the past few years in the Busch series, and Sarah Fisher (active in Indy series before Danica) is trying to get a ride now. It should also be noted that back in 1949 there were FOUR women racing in Nascar! The problem basically boils down to money and risk. No one really wants to bet their advertising dollars on anyone less than the best driver they can afford, and women are seen as "risky". Notice that Shawna Robinson's sponsor was Vassarette, where the *whole point* was to have a woman driving! There aren't many such sponsors....yet! The number of women who are Nascar fans is *huge* and getting bigger, so its bringing in different advertisers. Moreover, the Indy owners who are Northern abolitionists instead of Redneck Good'ol Boys, care less about prejudice and more about dollars, and if a woman brings them more race wins, that's what they're gonna do (ask Bobby Rahal and David Letterman how their ad dollars are workin' for them with Danica...*major* smiles :) :) :) ). Note also there's a major push by Nascar to recruit minorities too. Its just plain good for business! Give it some time... Flaming Liberal Nascar Mom,Buffy Quote
infamous Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 I like the current and former DEI guys: Michael Waltrip and Dale Jr... I was a devout Dale Earnhart fan, actually wept many tears over his fatal crash. I watch every cup race when I get the change and still pull for most of the Chevy drivers. I like Buffy, favor Michael and Dale Jr. of DEI but lately I've grown very fond of Kasey Kane, driver for Evernham Dodge racing team. For those of you that chastise the sport for consuming so much oil, remember that the next time you choose to take a trip on an airliner.........Infy Quote

GAHD Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 Ehh pit babes, I wonder how many fatal crashes can be chalked up to exposed clevage dstracting somebody? Queso 1 Quote
InfiniteNow Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 The coolest race track, laden with history, will be driven this weekend by Formula 1 drivers. It is the pricipality de monte carlo... aka... MONACO. The name alone conjures up legends of racing. Tight streets, no run-off area but a wall, immediately beside residence and business... with yatchs in the harbor. For those of you who don't pay for SPEED Tv, this weekend is your chance to check out F1... It'll be on Sunday on CBS... roughly noon Eastern time. Also, to stick with the "females in racing" conversation, Danika Patrick recently stated that if she could be any one athlete on the planet, it would be Formula One Ferrari driver, and seven time world champion, Michael Schumacher, as she'd love nothing more than to have the opportunity to drive a Formula 1 car. Cheers. Quote
Buffy Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 NASCAR NOT FOR WOMEN! :hihi: whaddya' think about this article Buffy?!I've been a Richard Petty fan since I was a kid. He's really an okay guy, but like a lot of Good'Ol'Boys, he's a total Neandertal. Forgive them their trespasses I say. So we have to prove ourselves. How about Danica? 8th place for second year and on the lead lap! True Marco was *incredible*, but the kid is a *legacy* for God sakes: Danica is the first racer in her family! And I can tell you, because of her, my daughter now *knows* she can do anything she wants! Watch this space dudes! It won't be long! Vrrrrooom,Buffy Quote
cwes99_03 Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 I've been a Mark Martin fan for about the last 8 years. My uncle is a Gordo fan, only because he met him in person in the pits years and years ago. In fact it was right before his first big wins. Said Jeff was a heck of a guy, and I respect my uncle's opinions about people. As far as indy goes, I couldn't have cheered harder for Hornish. I cheer for Danica all the time, because she's so hot and drives faster than I'll ever get to. I had a little tear well up for Unser though when he crashed Sunday. Ultimately though I think I'd want to drive in the Grand Prix circuit. Something about pitting a GTO against a porche and a Lamborghini just seems like the ultimate in race car driving. Quote
InfiniteNow Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 I did like the pass Hornish put on Marco on the last turn... and was impressed with the attractive young lady's 8th place... Not only looks good, but talented ta boot. Quote
InfiniteNow Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 Juan Pablo Montoya is leaving F1 (cause, he kinda sucks there :eek2: ) and is returning to Nascar. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=auto&id=2514303 Montoya has been an F1 driver for some time now as part of the Mercedes McLaren team. http://www.mclaren.com/theteam/juanpablo_biography.php Quote
