Turtle Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 This Sunday, I learned,They are going to Implode Trojan Nuclear facility,Here around Kelso, Washington. A hop, skip, and a throw from Portland. :) I hope everything goes well. :D what could go wrong, right? The biggest 'go wrong' thing is for it not to topple. This is the cooling tower they intend to drop & they say it is built thicker than any others; translation...more dynomite! Advisements say stay home because there is no civilian viewing area. Coast Guard has Columbia River blockaded 2 miles above & below implosion site, & Oregon Highway 30 is scheduled for closure. Rubbernecking from I-5 on the Washington side is under discouragement from all authorities. Blast is scheduled for between 7 & 9 am this coming Sunday morning Pacific Daylight Time & wide TV coverage is planned. Possible secret mission underway to secure viewing spot on mountainside overlooking the blast the night before; don't tell anyone.:) Sshhhhhh:doh: Tookalook Turtle Quote
InfiniteNow Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 They're not called "nuclear watches"... they're called "atomic clocks." Duh! Just adding some levity to the thread. :shade: Quote

Turtle Posted May 20, 2006 Report Posted May 20, 2006 Today is Saturday & the big blastola is tomorrow morning. I don't know if the cable channels plan to cover this 'Trojan Implosion' live or not, but our local stations out of Portland have it covered. My only bias for the KGW page is that when I decided to pick one of the local stations' pages, KGW just looked easier to navigate. Yada yada yada.:) http://www.kgw.com/Trojan_Implosion.htm I may have said things start at 7 am , but it is 6 am Pacific Daylight Time. KaaaaaaBOOOMMMMM!:) Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted May 20, 2006 Report Posted May 20, 2006 That's pretty exciting. I may have to check it out. Quote
Turtle Posted May 20, 2006 Report Posted May 20, 2006 That's pretty exciting. I may have to check it out. Yes indeedy! They have even had to add EXTRA DYNOMITE! We contemplated taking a boat out on the river, but I think the enthusiasm waned on that one. Trouble now is, I either have to stay up all night or try & get up early! Good grief & oh bother.:eek2: POWWW! CRASH!:) :) :D :omg:  :esmoking: :Exclamati :Exclamati  Quote
IDMclean Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Sounds of Silence I thought this was very moving in regards to how I feel about Nuclear dealings. I hope it's not seen as spam, it's just that I found it to have great impact regarding this subject, much like when I watched the Army tests in the nevada desert, with the soldiers in the trench as they detonated a bomb only football fields away.
