CraigD Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 …Not thinking about life but thinking about physics, thinking about math... well, perhaps that is what creates nerds? isnt it?Thinking systematically about Math and Physics, studying it, will almost certainly gain admittance into the elite ranks of nerdom. Welcome home! :) If you’re intensely immersed in Math, I’d council remaining there – there’s good historical anecdotal evidence that the math you do now, at age 17, will form the core of the math do for the rest of your life. If you’re in more of a seaching mode, I suggest some study and informal contemplation of Zoology, in particular primates. Because it can be immediately relevant to your life. Because all of our lives are, internet and all, in a very real sense, examples of primate Zoology. Quote
Tim_Lou Posted June 1, 2006 Author Report Posted June 1, 2006 actually, im interested in math mainly because im interested in PHYSICS. oh god, i cant tell you how MUCH i love physics. sometimes i would wake up in the middle of night... thinking, hmm how could this maxwell equation work with relativity... hmm intresting.... well actually, i learnt math first, sorta liked it... then when i was introduced to physics... Man! i remembered the first time i integrated newton's law of gravity and got the exact answer (potential function) as the book... it was like a miracle!!! (its kinda silly though). (math made soooo much senses because of physics!!!) I had never seen anything so connected and it's just... beautiful! after that, i would derive almost every single physics equations i learnt. it was like the history of the developments of physics replays itself all over again! i can feel how excited Newton was when he came up with all these equations.... oh man! one of the best moments in my life... was solving the classical two body problem on my own... i could almost cry at that moment. i even e-mailed it to some random professor (although i never got a reply; it was indeed kind of stupid). i felt like i have made a discovery... (at least for me)... well, i guess i've typed enough... Quote

Tormod Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 I recently explored ebay to see if I could sell some of my 3,000 books and ended up buying ANOTHER ONE!!! I know. Isn't it crazy. They're like dust bunnies. Quote
