Mercedes Benzene Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 Based on the chemicals that are put into pools (disinfectants, etc), is pool water more basic or acidic?...just something I was thinking about. Jay-qu 1 Quote
ronthepon Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 Usually basic if you have put disinfectants, but may become acidic due to some chemicals being released into it. (Like piss) Quote

Good question. I worked in & around pools for many years & we tested the water often for chlorine & PH. I forget the numbers, but here's a link & quote from it.http://www.phmeters.com/pool_care_application_note.htm phmeters.com said: The ideal pH range for pool water is approximately 7.4 to 7.6 with pH values of 7.2 to 7.8 being acceptable. Spas should be maintained within a pH range of 7.2 to 7.8. The main problem with maintaining pool chemistry is people not showering before intering the pool...& yes peeing in it. One minute you have a perfectly optimum chemistry, then you get 100 grundimllies & all bets are off.:D Oh & we cant wait to get the babies in too! :)  Quote
ronthepon Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 I have seen some very high tech pools in which the water is continuously cleaned and treated. Those are truly high class. Quote
