Moonchild Posted October 2, 2004 Report Posted October 2, 2004 Can we have space/astronomy-themed avatars, maybe? Quote
Tormod Posted October 3, 2004 Author Report Posted October 3, 2004 Good idea...the current standard avatars are, er, standard. But you can make your own if you like! In your profile (click the profile button, above) you can upload a jpg at about 20kilobytes up to 100x100 pixels (72dpi). Meanwhile I'll see if I can find a pack somewhere. Quote
Tormod Posted October 3, 2004 Author Report Posted October 3, 2004 Ah...I didn't notice that you decided to ask this in the Wish List instead... Quote
IrishEyes Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 Personally, I'd like to say that I think your Newsletter was just incredible!! If any of you didn't get a copy and would like one, sign up and send me a PM. I'll be more than happy to make sure that one gets forwarded on to you!! Seriously T, I think the site is looking better and better all the time, and it shows that you have put a lot of work into making it great. Thanks for giving the rest of us a place to be 'scientific', or whatever it is we are. We just adore you!! Quote
TINNY Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 huh? newsletter? I want one! How do you sign up? Where.... have I missed something? Quote
TINNY Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 btw, T, I hate having to open up a new window just to log in. It would be great if the form to login was in the main forums page, or even in the index page. saves me a lot of time. same thing with replies. the old hypo site had the 'quick reply' thingy at the bottom, but the current one; you need to load another page. It's quite a problem with these computers at my computer lab - 32mb SDRAM - struggles to even open one IE window. the thing is, I don't like having to open new windows. I just like it all to be on one page. Hope you approve my wish. Quote
IrishEyes Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 huh? newsletter? I want one! How do you sign up? Where.... have I missed something? Tinny, didn't you get a newsletter? Maybe you thought it was junkmail and jsut deleted it? Seriously, did it not get to you? Quote

I agree. That was one of the things I really enjoyed about the old forums - being able to log in right before I replied. It was nice not to have to go through log in on a different page. Of course, then all of the timestamps were messed up since I wasn't logged in, and it took me MONTHS to figure that one out! LOL Quote
Tormod Posted October 19, 2004 Author Report Posted October 19, 2004 Huh? New window? Hm. I guess I never get these things. I never log out. But you shouldn't have to get a new window...the login is supposed to open in the same window. Just make sure you login BEFORE you start posting! And Tinny (and others) - if you didn't get the newsletter it was most likely caught by a spam filter. I will make an archive on the web with all our newsletters from now on (including the one from Saturday) so that it is possible to keep up if you don't receive it. Quote
Freethinker Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 Er two threads discussing the newsletter? Quote
Tormod Posted October 19, 2004 Author Report Posted October 19, 2004 The new thread came up after I saw the newsletter discussion pop up here. For all newsletter feedback we'll stick to this thread from now on:http://www.hypography.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=28&threadid=802 Quote

Uncle Martin Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 Those damned Indonesian ISP's, just can't count on them! Quote
TINNY Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 It happens when I want to go to the index.cfm page from the forums page. Quote
Tormod Posted October 20, 2004 Author Report Posted October 20, 2004 Yes. I am extremely frustrated by this. My ISP says it is a session timeout problem but can't solve it. Hopefully the upcoming forum upgrade will change it because we will no longer worry about sessions and cookies on the main site, only in the forums, basically. I apologize for any problems and hope you guys just try to ignore this for the moment...I am *very* aware of the problem. Quote

You know, when we get the e-mail that a new answer has been posted on an subscribed thread, you can click on the link to read the new message(s), but if you want to answer, you have to go to the log-in page. That's why we have to open a new page to log-in. If you could change that, it would be great, but it wouldn't be too bad if you can't change it. I usually memorize all the threads in my e-mail and then go to the hypography main page to log-in and so I never have to open a new page to log-in. Quote
