Queso Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 So what is the prefix for opposite? Like. . if I was going to say the opposite of lung,in one word what would it be? For instance; Delung,or Alung. :) I have no idea what the prefix for opposite is! Do you? Quote
ronthepon Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Well... prefixes for negative opposite include dis- a- de- un- irr- etc. What would be the conceptual meaning of the opposite of lung? Quote
Queso Posted May 29, 2006 Author Report Posted May 29, 2006 A tree. Trees are the complete opposite of lungs. So what's the prefix for opposite???? Quote
ronthepon Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Do you mean that trees make oxygen, lungs use oxygen? Scientifically, trees also use oxygen themselves. Quote
ronthepon Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 I may go on to add that I believe that the concept of opposite is best used in the feild of adjectives. When we attempt to use it for nouns, and other things, it does not always hold a valid linguistic operation (this new terminology is just like mathematical operation) Quote
Turtle Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Turtle? Anybody? Anti-lung. However, it is proper to say that both trees & lung-apoids 'respire', that is breathe. Quote

Queso Posted May 29, 2006 Author Report Posted May 29, 2006 Pacific O Mouthed windy after-noon on the coast of California as long white strands of sand stone hair conjoins to the membrain of Oceania, and dips deeper and deeper like the snail tenticles of a Man-O-War Reaching toward the mute mermaids, even Further- and Men with gills crawl up the Bonsai out there growing gills, like I said as Insomaniacal sings his Mantra: "Let's go back into the ocean" Over and over, undereath a Bonsai anti-lung, 'neath the sun who shuns anyone in sphere-star presence too long with a warm and toasty burn. Look deep into the eyes of bored eternal angels who float above the bonsais and leave their halos hanging from the branches 'cause Earth is H E A V E N L I E S T. Look, you're breathing you can't see them NOW but it's evident that Trees are really just the complete opposite of lungs. It was then, that I harvested the unicorn and replaced her forehead food with a beautiful spiral cone that shined for thirty seven years (In one moment). I was not hungry the next day, Riding that unicone into the morning of sandy sheets. I don't want to be awake any longer Quote
Drip Curl Magic Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 A tree. Trees are the complete opposite of lungs. So what's the prefix for opposite???? that's exactly what came to my mind when reading the first post. Quote
Drip Curl Magic Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 well, come to think of it... trees aren't really the opposite of lungs, necessarily. plants can be considered the opposite of animals. Lungs perhaps are the opposite of whatever part(s) of the plant that take in carbon dioxide and put off oxygen. ya know? Quote
Queso Posted May 30, 2006 Author Report Posted May 30, 2006 You can say anything sean :hyper:You know that  Quote
