So - a thread for road trips!

I'm in the middle of one, being in Cape Town (according to the King James Bible the Bestest, Most Beautifullest Place in the Entire World. Yea, verily. Check it out - it's in Deutronomy somewhere.)

Any case - left Brits (a tiny burg west of Pretoria) on Sunday morning, towing a microlight on a homemade trailer. The wind resistance on the bloody thing was incredible - it gave me about 6km's to a litre of juice!

Hammered it down to Beaufort West, a tiny spot in the middle of the Karoo desert, with my favourite dog in the world, James, on the back seat. The poor bastard was doped to hell and gone, and just sat in the back seat smiling at everybody. Funny enough, the stuff didn't make him sleep, just put him on the canine buzz from hell. Jeez, I need to post some photos! My mate Martin was driving the other car, hauling all three of his cats in boxes. They didn't take to the dope too well, which didn't pan out as the vet promised. They shat themselves, urinated all over the place, and rolled in it! Thank the deity of your choice that they were in plastic baskets with solid, leak-proof bottoms, and none of it spilt into the car! But the one escaped and tackled Martin while he was doing 140km/h on the highway! Almost lost it and rolled the van!

Got myself a traffic ticket at Hanover, another tiny Karoo town. There was no license disk on the trailer! I left it at home, having licensed the home-made microlight trailer only last week, and leaving the bloody documents on the desk at home! Idjit! Lost myself a whole 30 mins! The poor traffic officer begged some water off me, having finished his and sitting in the desert sun the whole day! Actually, serves him right for giving me a ticket!

Any ways - left BW yesterday morning, and got as far as Laingsburg before the bloody trailer's axle broke. Took three hours in that tiny shithole to fix the damn thing. Was awesome, though - I was walking around the repair shops' property, and there was a spot where they were digging the foundations for an extension. I screwed around there for a bit, and saw some slate-like stones that came out the diggings. I cracked a few, and lo and behold, found three fossils! Two were fern-like things, about the size of a cigarette box, and the third was a kind of a leaf of something. Or that's what it looked like. Apparently, according to the garage owner, that's nothing funny - the whole place is strewn with it, and they aren't a novelty there. 'Cept for us tourists, that is.

Got into Cape Town late yesterday afternoon, and slept over in Simon's Town (after quite a few beers, that is)... I'm flying back on the 5th, and will post a few photos if anybody here don't believe me about Cape Town being the best (according to the Bible - and I fully concur).
