Jay-qu Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 BigDog and I endevour to eventually create a coherent storyline for our voyage, to do so it would be cool if the Space Voyage thread was only for posts made in charater, ie only the storyline. This means we will need a forum for more generic discussion and banter. Here. Quote
ronthepon Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Um, Jay Qu, I would strongly suggest that a thread was separately made for only storyline, instead of chatter. The storyline articles can be posted simultaneously on the main thread and the storyline thread. Then, the previous part will be simplified. Further, moving to a separate thread just to post one sentence of a smarty reply or comment will be too much of a time problem for me, not to mention an extra effort. The chatter thread may be looked at as nonsense talk thread at times also. Will you consider?Pleeeeeease... Quote
Jay-qu Posted June 5, 2006 Author Report Posted June 5, 2006 considered, but I think you missed my point. I was intending that the other main thread become only for storyline and this one be for out of character chatting and discussing of where the story is going. Quote
ronthepon Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 So I hope a separate thread will be created in which someone can (painstakingly) put up the new 'story' posts. For now, I volunteer. Quote
TheBigDog Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Ron, you use more than a broom in Moon Mission (part 2). Bill Quote
TheBigDog Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Janus pointed out to me some engineering issues in one of my posts. I am going to go back and edit out the issue. We may be putting those PM's into this thread so everyone can follow the conversation we had. It has to do with the module rotations to smooth out accelleration and the weights in the spokes to adjust the orientation of the ship without despin. I would like to open up the question of how to do this again. My first thought is to have large flywheels inboard of the main ring that can be manipulated to adjust the orientation without having to despin. If we are constantly despinning and respinning we will quickly go through our supply of propellant. Any thoughts? Bill Quote
Jay-qu Posted June 6, 2006 Author Report Posted June 6, 2006 sounds good, put the PM's in the design thread :hyper: Quote
TheBigDog Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 Great minds Janus! I was going to introduce the billiards and bowling. Two lanes actually. I think we will all be much better players before the journey is over. Excellent tour of the ship. Bill Quote
IDMclean Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 Also the despin would result in a loss of simulated gravity, not normally bad except that we have a large open water source which would love to turn into a large "gob" and bounce around. Quote
ronthepon Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 Hey, pyrotex, you don't know what I used to do before I was an odd jobs man aboard the prophesy. The first reason I was here may shed some light on my... 'doubtable' past... Quote
TheBigDog Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 Buggers and moon buggy rides! More texture added to the voyage. Awesome guys! Bill Quote
TheFaithfulStone Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 hope i'm not ruining some huge plot point with those little guys. tfs Quote
TheFaithfulStone Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 damn, now my hearts all a flutter with anticipation... Quote
TheBigDog Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 hope i'm not ruining some huge plot point with those little guys. tfsI like the little guys. Wish I had thought of them myself! I am curious about were you are taking it! There are currently 103 people on the ship (and the moon). So there are 103 stories to be told. I might not make another long entry until Friday night. Busy busy busy. Bill Quote
TheBigDog Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 Just read Pyro's post. I will make some time. Bill Quote
