Pyrotex
Yeah! All we gots to do is look out a window and see a moon, make a link to information or images; examine a star, make a link to info or images; discuss some technology, make a link... Should we go back and try to retrofit some links (like when we're discussing Io, or should we just start here?
Jay-qu
You can go back if you want, there is a lot that we could add! It would take some time.. I might do it to some of the key and more important posts :)
Pyrotex
Okay, I'll see if I can add some links about Io to one of my posts.
kalesh
Thanks Jay-qu for the opportunity. Background of the alien(me):) I started out from my home planet about six months ago on a mission. Five months into the mission my ship was attacked by an enemy of our home planet and our long range communication system together with our main (ftl) engine was destroyed beyond recognition. Much of the crew were killed in the fight and the rest were killed when the life support system in 95% of the ship gave away. I happened to be in the 5% that had continued life support and survived. So I'm stranded some 400 light years from my home planet, with no way to contact them. I had put myself into stasis and set the mainframe to bring me out if there was a habitable planet nearby (within 0.2 light years) or a spaceship was close enough. PlotThe mainframe brings me out of stasis after it sights your ship. And it has been running the "first contact decrypter" on all your communications to and from earth and has enough information to enable basic communication. I send a basic rescue message to your ship (in english). Then I set the navigation course to bring my ship near of yours(I still have booster rockets). Then it depends on your rescue mission. Let me know if this plot is acceptable Regards Kalesh.
Jay-qu
I dont think it likely that we find 2 seperate aliens in our solar system, its probably better that you are one of Llenea's friends that she thought was dead, but perhaps you put yourself in a stasis of some kind down on the moon. kalesh
Maybe I'm in an escape pod (yeah that should do it). As on the moon I can't figure out a plot to get your attention.
Jay-qu
Llenea could tell us she recieved a communication from you..
kalesh
Hi,You guys want blueprint for an ftl engine? I think I have one somewhere, although I don't understand much of the technical stuff.
Pyrotex
Gosh, I personally would adore having one, but I'm afraid if that would unsettle our plot thread. Maybe, maybe not. Even with the blueprints, we would still have to search around for titanium matrix infinalloy, warp plasma, trihelical fottacites, and monopole flux capacitors. And where are we gonna find that stuff out here? Ganymede WalMart? Titan Hardware? On the other hand, there may be some interest in going to that nearby brown dwarf we discovered, and that's...what? 4 light months away? I forget. Keep the blueprints in your back pocket until we can straighten out what we want to do. Meanwhile, we have four Galilean satellites to explore!!!!! PS: I assume both you 'aliens' want to be revived in our sickbay? Well, anytime you want, write a 'wakeup' post in the sickbay. Go for it. And, uh... don't mess around with the redshirts just outside the door. They're there for your protection. :hihi:

Mostly because we don't understand the technical jargon, and because we don't have the materials needed. So until we can find something on a planet or asteroid we cant make it. And if you people happen not to want it we could just say we never found the stuff needed. On the other hand, there may be some interest in going to that nearby brown dwarf we discovered, and that's...what? 4 light months away? I forget. 1 light year and it also happens to be our home planet.:hihi: PS: I assume both you 'aliens' want to be revived in our sickbay? Well, anytime you want, write a 'wakeup' post in the sickbay. TheFaithfulStone
Just say no to FTL. TFS
kalesh
Just say no to FTL. TFSTBD whats your point of view?
Jay-qu
I say no FTL, we have taken a big step away from our plausability bringing aliens into the story - FTL IMO is even further..
kalesh
Ok Fine if the crew doesn't want it, who am I to argue.
TheFaithfulStone
Yeah, I'm not real down with the aliens even. How the HELL do they end up looking like orange people? I'm gonna need some serious science backflips here. TFS The Gold Standard of fictional aliens, I think.
Pyrotex
Okay guys, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. This "alien" twist to the plot is my fault. Maybe LLanea suggested she wanted to be an alien, but I was the one who "made it happen". I am sorry. It's not *too* late to fix this. If you want, LLanea and KAlesh can be "redshirts" who just never were mentioned before. After all, we got a crew of several hundred to choose from. They can be specialists in any area they like. I will go back and edit a dozen or so posts and straighten out the "timeline". Show of hands. I am really, really sorry. Sorry.
