anglepose Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 ive fished and cooked mackral that was ok but the best had to be the pidgeon i had to shoot it out th sky and gut it chop of the wings and pluck it (i made a pillow out of the feathers lol) then i cooked it on an open fire YUM ::D i think huntings fine if its unendangered and your going to eat it and put it to good use but hunting just to kill it for fun or say just for the horns is a very bad thing to do Quote

paigetheoracle Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 If it was a question of survival, that's different but not for the fun of it (In Britain it's called poaching). Quote
Boerseun Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 If it was a question of survival, that's different but not for the fun of it (In Britain it's called poaching). It's only poaching if it's somebody else's animals, innit? Quote
paigetheoracle Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 It's only poaching if it's somebody else's animals, innit? And all property is theft, except of course if it's your life being extinguished (poached). :hyper: :hihi:  Quote
Loricybin Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 i have fished, and eaten what i've caught.i plan, eventually, on trying my hand with dear.(<---haha, dear deer, i misspelled you.)i'm a decent marksman too, so that should be interesting. Quote
rockytriton Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 This "Yes" only counts if you include crabs & fish. Quote
Oriana Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 I would feel so incredibly guilty if i ever killed anything. I'd be a vegetarian if I had to kill my own food. *lol* :) Quote
Tarantism Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 yes im the same way, i have caught fish, haha i havent ever thought about that as "hunting"... though, i suppose it is. i wouldnt mind living in the mountains for a little while and having to hunt for myself. it would certainly be quite the experience. i would use bow/arrow and spears though. no guns, thats cheating. :) Quote
learnin to learn Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 I love the hunt! There is no better feeling than killing your own food! You can wait for hours for that one shot! :D Quote
Tarantism Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I love the hunt! There is no better feeling than killing your own food! You can wait for hours for that one shot! :)i imagine that would be quite the rush... Quote
Jay-qu Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 under the pretence of this thread, do you think its wrong to hunt down and kill bears/sharks/even dogs, that attack mame or kill humans? I see the hypocracy in it all, but is it still wrong? Quote
Tarantism Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 thats a really good question! hmmm...i would say that they are just like humans in the attacking sense, only do they make the same conscious desicion? no annimal attacks for no reason or personal gain. hmmmmm, im interested to hear people's thoughts on this. Quote
Jay-qu Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 well I think that its kinda wrong we kill them.. we wouldnt charge a 3 year old with murder because they dont know what they are doing, but an animal that is just following its instincts is demonised and hence hunted & from what I gather killed. Quote
Tarantism Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 yeah im leaning towards that conclusion because, like you said, animals tend to act on instinct. a dog that attacks isnt nessesarily an evil dog, either. my cousins dog recently bit a little kid, and that is one of the nicest dogs i have ever met! the child was most likely irritating it in some way, or stepping out of its boundry. however, i can see the valid argument on both sides. as far as wild animals go...i certainly do not think that we should kill them, especially bears because their populations are on the downfall, at least in california. i think that mountain lions are as well, but im not sure. ill try to find some statistics in the morning. learnin to learn Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 no way! like yall have said, animals act out of instinct! One of the main reasons for bear attacks is that someone wanders too close to the bears young or its prey. I dont believe in killing animals for any other reason than for food. If someone is killed by an animal, it is most likely their fault. Animals dont just sit around and say to them selves "hey I think I'll kill someone today!" it is all bout survival! Quote
pgrmdave Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 under the pretence of this thread, do you think its wrong to hunt down and kill bears/sharks/even dogs, that attack mame or kill humans? I don't think that it's wrong - most of the time I am okay with it. If a bear is attacking humans (in my area) it is for one of only a few reasons - either it has become far too comfortable being in populated areas, and is thus a threat to the people in that area, or people have encroached on its land, and it is a threat to the people in that area. It comes down to a choice between humans or an animal and given that choice I will always choose the humans. With dogs, in my experiance, only a dog which is severely disturbed will kill (in most circumstances at least) without provocation. A dog which kills a child on purpose is a danger to other children. Having grown up around dogs, I know that even a dog can tell the difference between a grown person and a child, and will allow the child to provoke it without retaliating. If the dog has lost that ability to distinguish it becomes dangerous. However, most dog attacks are in defense, either or itself or its owners, and those should be treated differently. In those cases, the dog acted as it should have, and shouldn't be killed. As for sharks - there are so few fatal shark attacks that I doubt it's really much of a problem. It does become a problem when you have a single shark which develops a liking for people (like the real life basis for Jaws). In those cases, it is necessary to remove the threat of the shark. Quote
