It's easy to get the special characters if you know their ASCII codes, e.g.

ALT + 168 = ¿

ALT + 173 = ¡

ALT + 160 = á

ALT + 130 = é

ALT + 161 = í

ALT + 162 = ó

ALT + 163 = ú

ALT + 164 = ñ

• You have to press the ALT key while typing in the code for the letter you want.

• Remember to have NUM LOCK on.

• Use the numbers on the keypad, not the row of numbers above the letters.

• If you are working on a laptop, press the ALT and Function (Fn) keys simultaneously while typing the letter code.

¡Muchas gracias, amigo! Es importante leer y hablar español para practicarlo. Hace mucho tiempo que yo no hablo con nadie. [notice the double negative in Spanish] ¡Qué lástima! (What a pity!)

you can change the configuration in your computer... well y buy my laptop in the U.S. and i change the language in the toolbar to set a spanish configuration so y can use the accents and question marks.
