paigetheoracle Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 I believe the illusion of reality is caused by what I call 'movement with'. By this I mean that because we're interacting with something, it takes up our whole frame of reference through our concentration, that nothing else seems to exist. Disengaging from the smaller picture, returns us to the reality of the greater universe: Why does the unknown(paranormal/new/different) frighten us? Because it is the tap on the shoulder that tells us we are not alone in the universe (The only form of life or being there is). It reduces us to the state of a child again, instead of the pretentious adult we like to think of ourselves as: The expert who knows everything there is to know about the universe (This is why death scares so many people in my opinion - it wakes us from the dream of the ego, which tells us we are God and reminds us instead that we are mortal after all (All pilgrims on the road to The Undiscovered Country - "Come in number 6, your time is up). It is the bigger self reminding the smaller self, that there is more to true life than this little pinprick in time and space, which we call present reality (Star Trek, "The Squire of Gothos" episode).:eek2: :( hallenrm 1 Quote

DarkColoredLight Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 Reality is what? The world we live in? More or less the people we talk to/at/with? Then, the people that talk at/with us? Without full honesty don't we, for the most part, fill in the blanks ourselves. Making the person we question look shady if we immagine them that way. Or great if we immagine them that what? Even dark if their motives are really hidden from us. So are we all just figments of each others immaginations? Or am I just making the whole world look shady, because that's how we see ourselves? Or did I just say that to make you think the opposite? You'll never know if you don't ask. You'll never believe if you do. HI OH hallenrm 1 Quote

DarkColoredLight Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 Since before my time I had no thoughts. Then after my time shall I be thoughtless again, but in a world I create? How about the theory that you don't know you're dead. So you keep living your everyday life as you would everyday. Blind to the face that you have the choice to live the way you want? If that statement could be proven then that would prove a heaven, in that we are still dead. Waiting to be born, but really waiting for our prelife to die. wtf you can sell your soul to the devil, but can you give it to him? wtf is this "reality" all about? Quote
hallenrm Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 Since before my time I had no thoughts. Then after my time shall I be thoughtless again, but in a world I create? I believe their is a flaw in your thoughts!!! Quote
DarkColoredLight Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 I believe their is a flaw in your thoughts!!!:) I believe there are NO flaws, rather lack of flawlessness. Now what do you believe? Quote
ronthepon Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 Well, although this thread is not meant for my type, but I must say what I feel. A point of view can claim that we are, in our most basic opinion the only observable observer (read it a few times until you figure it out).We cannot hope to percieve the observation... or consiousness of the others. Some robos might get realistic enough to look self consious, yet they may not be so.Some people pretending to be asleep may look unconcious yet they may not be so. That's for the point. Now to continue, if we come to a situation in which we feel that there are no fellow observers around (or well self concious people) there are chances that we also become less concious of our surrounding matter and situation and politics, football game timings etc. We becone vegetables. Reality as a concept diminishes. PS: I feel that I had horribly failed to express myself correctly. Quote
DarkColoredLight Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 HA I WIN!!!You had the free will to not, yet FELT the need to. Need I say more my fellow ROBOnthepon? Oh jesus, I have a vision. I see you. Typing, telling me your point of view. Explaining to me what you feel is right. Now I see, wait, oh it's me, typing it's a message on my computer telling you want I feel is right. But, something has gone terribly wrong. We have stopped using the !!!!!!! that we, normally type; as oppressing observational observers who over absorbe the pain that comes from the oppression pressed on us by the mighty hands of the oppressors(read it a few times until you figure it out). With ??? which help us come concious of the hand, concious of the persons connected to the hands. So much that we become concious of our own hands, which we assume are used to press. Since they have been pressed on us, but there is no possible way to pressing back. For the system we live in there is only one action, which has no possible opposite and equal reaction. At least I don't see one in reality, for it is only a vision that I have. As for Newton? He could use a redefinition; every action has the potential for a opposite and equal action. Take potential out and you have a opposite and equal REaction. Which under our current law are prohibited. Do not resist, rebuild. Infultrate, destroy, rebuild. orInfultrate then rebuild. For everything will eventually be destroyed, thank MOTHER nature for that. How come the thread I jump in eventually get widdled down to the meaning of life? Causing the thread to die? Did I win? or Did you want to lose,DCL Some robos might get realistic enough to look self consious, yet they may not be so.Some people pretending to be asleep may look unconcious yet they may not be so.Some people are both asleep and so unconcious to the fact they're asleep, they BECOME robots with human-like thoughts. I like waking my family to "Can we open the presences now?" Rather than "WAKE THE DUCK UP!!! IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!!" Quote
motherengine Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 I believe the illusion of reality is caused by what I call 'movement with'. can reality be an illusion? what is the oppositional truth? if you mean that we fail to see the full dynamics of reality than you are talking about something like what plato referred to in his cave allegory: "...Plato likens people untutored in the Theory of Forms to prisoners chained in a cave, unable to turn their heads. All they can see is the wall of the cave. Behind them burns a fire. Between the fire and the prisoners there is a parapet, along which puppeteers can walk. The puppeteers, who are behind the prisoners, hold up puppets that cast shadows on the wall of the cave. The prisoners are unable to see these puppets, the real objects, that pass behind them. What the prisoners see and hear are shadows and echoes cast by objects that they do not see."* though the shadows cast on the caves walls are less illusion than another aspect of reality. *[from the university of washington site/philosophy 320] Quote
