Software suggestions??

Photoshop has been the figurative "god" of computer imagery editing.

Unfortunately, the latest version costs about $750. For those of us who are not in the field of professional photography or graphic art, this is quite an obnoxious price to pay for such software.

 

*Is there any comparable, but cheaper, editing software out there?

*What do you guys use?

*Is there any digital editing freeware that comes close to photoshop's versatility?

Most digital cameras nowadays come with some basic photo editor. Heck, find an old photoshop 2.0 disk. It still works great.

Well, Jasc Paintshop Pro isn't as good as Photoshop, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper and has a free trial period.

I agree with Rocky. Paintshop Pro is everyman's photoshop.

 

But there is also something called Photoshop Elements which is a cut-down photoshop for home use. I have an older version and it's pretty darn good.

I forgot - there is also The Gimp, which used to be a Linux-only program (unless I'm mistaken) but is also available for Windows and Mac. It's free.

The Gimp is the way to go absolutely if you do not want photoshop or can not get it.

There are many freeware photo editors which are simpler than

Photoshop but equallly effective. Try some from these sites:
