aurumsolis Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 From Life Technology News Human hands glow, but fingernails release the most light, according to a recent study that found all parts of the hand emit detectable levels of light. The findings support prior research that suggested most living things, including plants, release light. Since disease and illness appear to affect the strength and pattern of the glow, the discovery might lead to less-invasive ways of diagnosing patients. Mitsuo Hiramatsu, a scientist at the Central Research Laboratory at Hamamatsu Photonics in Japan, who led the research, told Discovery News that the hands are not the only parts of the body that shine light by releasing photons, or tiny, energized increments of light. "Not only the hands, but also the forehead and bottoms of our feet emit photons," Hiramatsu said, and added that in terms of hands "the presence of photons means that our hands are producing light all of the time." Panjandrum Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 Is it your experience that light causes healing? If not, I fail to see how an invisible glow could be seen as a potential mechanism for such. Besides which, this trait is apparently universal, implying that all humans should have the same healing abilities as Jeebus, which is not my observation. It is also rather to beg the question, since it is not proven that Jesus actually performed any healings. Quote
Turtle Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 Is it your experience that light causes healing? Yes; vitamin D is produced in humans exposed to sunlight. Besides which, this trait is apparently universal, implying that all humans should have the same healing abilities as Jeebus, which is not my observation. This observation may only support the importance of intent. It is also rather to beg the question, since it is not proven that Jesus actually performed any healings. The premise is implied in the context of the thread.Accepting the premise that Jesus healed, I don't accept the glowing hands as his method; I think his method was parlor magic. Quote
Pyrotex Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 ...Human hands glow, but fingernails release the most light, according to a recent study that found all parts of the hand emit detectable levels of light. ...Since disease and illness appear to affect the strength and pattern of the glow, the discovery might lead to less-invasive ways of diagnosing patients....The light is invisible to the naked eyeHow convenient! We can't SEE the light! Photography has been around for over 1.5 centuries. Photography in non-visual bandwidths has been around for nearly a century. Most any living thing puts out infrared light. It's still "light"; electromagnetic radiation; it's still "photons". But it's just a manifestation of heat. Plants and animals generate chemical energy which releases heat. So what? Claiming this can be used to "heal" the sick is just another of the countless quack claims that quack doctors have used to bilk money out of people for ages: Reading bumps on the head. Reading flecks of color in the iris of the eye. Feeling the "aura" of a patient by waving hands. Reading lines in the palm. Decyphering the entrails of goats. Spiritual surgery, where some jerk appears to pull chicken livers out of a child's stomach and claims he has removed the cancer. Curing people with "energized" water. All bogus. Quote
