pgrmdave Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 But nobody watching >6 ?!! It's difficult to watch for more than six hours a day if you have a job, or school, or hang out with friends a lot. Six hours is 1/4 of your day, factor in a minimum 6 hours sleep and it's 1/3 or more of your active day. I don't think I could be passive for that long. I could definitely play video games with friends for that long, but that's not passivly watching tv. Quote
ronthepon Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Yup. Watching for >6 hrs is a mighty tough thing at times, not watching at all being easier. Quote
paigetheoracle Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 I wonder if this is down to age? Those who grew up with it as the new wonder of the age, may watch it more than say the computer age child, who might be lost in video games or watching internet porn. Quote
Boerseun Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Hey - look at the results! A nice and even slope! That couldn't have been rigged... Another interesting take on this would be if our resident pollster could include age into it, so we can see if its the youngsters or the old guys sitting around doing nothing for hours on end. Quote
pgrmdave Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Well, if we can cross reference this poll with the age poll. If only they were public polls... Quote
Zythryn Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 I tend to have the TV on in the background while I surf the web. Actively giving the TV undivided attention, probably about 1hr a day on average. Otherwise science channel, discovery, history channel and the like are typically on (oh, and the sci-fi channel:)). Retired with lots of time on my hands so I expect that makes a fair difference. Quote

Hey I resent that, being an old guy sitting around with nothing better to do than watch television! (54, going on 92). I think if you were brought up with it, you're more likely to stare at it all day, even if only as background noise: Kids brought up with computers, may well have discarded this form of entertainment as less valuable and also revolted against it because it was their parents favoured item or boredom relief. Mercedes Benzene Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 even if only as background noise: Whenever I'm not out with friends, and I'm just sitting around doing stuff at home, I normally have the news on in the background. That way, if I here something interesting, I can just jump to the tv to see what's going on. Quote

Guest jamongo Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 > 6 hours a day.... The television receiver is energized when I get up in the morning and deenergized when I retire at night.......I kike to keep track of where the bombs are falling. Quote
LJP07 Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 1-2 Hours a day. I'm no couch potato. Quote
Tormod Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 Less than 1 hour, if any. More on weekends but I'm not a TV slave. Now don't ask me how much time I spend in front of a monitor... Quote
LJP07 Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 Tormod, how much time do you spend in front of the monitor? :D Quote

Is that not a contradiction, you watch 0 hours of television, but technically, renting a movie onto your TV, is watching around 2-3 hours as that's how long most films are....maybe I'm wrong :) Quote
Ganoderma Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 err...I am in bed when i watch it.....? ok ok 2-3 hours a week :) Quote
