LJP07 Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 err...I am in bed when i watch it..... I'm wondering what you are trying to suggest. :) Quote
Ganoderma Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 with my wife...! :) :eek_big: set myself up for that one eh. Quote
Ananke Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 Anyone who spends 6+ hours a day watching tv fails at life. Idnt be surprised if tv became obsolete within our lifetimes, with transmitters switching off on account of the internet. Why limit yourself to a fixed monologue when you can delve into an ever-changing polylogue? Quote
pgrmdave Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 TV won't go become obsolete, just like movies didn't become obsolete with TV, nor did the radio. It may need to change, but it won't be obsolete. Quote
Ganoderma Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 its a good point though. i spend far more time on the computer now than i ever used. maybe 3 hours a day sometimes. only difference is the computer generally helps me learn. Quote
C1ay Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Does listening count? We've got a bunch of those music channels and I can listen to those for hours. Beyond that, I only watch when I see something educational in the listings that catches my eye.... Quote
infamous Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Prerequisite Poll thread. Place rants here.B)How many hours of TV do I watch / day? Well............; if you throw out the 3 hours of commercials, about 1 hour a day. Give me strength!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..................Infy Quote
Loricybin Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 zero, now. my cable bill was not paid for a while, and we lost our TV watching ability.i got used to it, and started liking the free time i was left with. once my TV was available to watch again, i stuck to adult swim, once in a while. eventually i just dropped the TV altogether. once in a while, when i need to excape reality, i'll watch TV. it's been about 2 weeks since my remote control's last activity. besides, commercials make me lose faith in humanity. i prefer being a real person. Michaelangelica Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Without cable/Fox there are so few shows to watchThere is little decent Sci-fi (except Dr Who)"Reality" shows I can't stand.Late night quiz shows are appalling.USA 'shoot-em-up' or 'chase-them' movies are boring. There is little good comedy or satire (except 'Chaser' which is patchy)There are only so many CSIs you can watch. There are too few British Detective storiesSo I guess that why I'm here. & reading a book every few days. Pyrotex Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 My wife would watch TV 18 hours a day if she could. Okay, I exaggerate. She would really watch only 14 hours a day and be on the phone the other 4. Fortunately, Life doesn't give her this option. :) But this means the TV is "on" almost all day. I will sit with her and watch one 1-hour drama ("CSI", "House", "STNG"), half an hour of news, and one M*A*S*H episode just before going to bed. Quote
pgrmdave Posted November 15, 2006 Report Posted November 15, 2006 There is little good comedy or satire (except 'Chaser' which is patchy) No Daily Show? or Colbert Report? South Park? Comedy Central has some good shows, if you can get past the shock factor. There are a lot of good shows on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim too. Quote
Pyrotex Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Actually, I just started watching the Daily Show, and I like it. Best news reporting on TV. I've seen a few good shows on Comedy Central but they're spotty. The new show I like best is House. "Cut em open with a rusty razor blade and damn the consequences! Who needs medical malpractice insurance anyway?! I sure as hell don't!" Quote
Back2Reality Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 I prefer the internet - they can't brainwash you so easily on there! Quote
