Bramski Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 Hello, I wasn't sure to post this in here or in the Philosophy forum, I think it's applicable to both, but seeing as there's a lot of physics involved in the subject, it will probably be better discussed in here. Could Life And Consciousness Be Related To The Fundamental Quantum Nature Of The Universe? Stuart Hameroff MD seems to think so. I was watching a Documentary recently, on the Discovery Science channel. It was about people who have had Out of Body Experiences (OBE's) whilst pronounced clinically dead. These people, when resussitated, were able to go into great detail about what went on in the room while they were dead. Stuart Hameroff is an anesthesiologist who was coming across this phenomena whilst treating patients which inspired him to study this matter in greater detail, his theories and findings are what have interested me the most. A lot of the more scientific and deeper .PDF documents go over my head as I am not yet educated at a high enough level with regards to physics and quantum physics and such, but I thought you guys here might be interested in reading some of his material. Here's a link to the website and to the Overview. http://www.quantumconsciousness.org/overview.htmlhttp://www.quantumconsciousness.org/ I apologise if this has already been covered, I tried a search and never came up with anything.
IrishEyes Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 Bramski,Hello and WELCOME to our Forum!Your question sounds a lot like something that another of our members, tim_lou, has an interest in. I hope that your post will spark some interesting discussion along the way.
Bramski Posted October 24, 2004 Author Report Posted October 24, 2004 Thanks for the warm welcome Irisheyes. I have been a long time reader on this site as well as a few others, which inspired me to start a Discovering Science course with the Open University, here in the UK. I hope to be able to study to a degree level in Physics if I can just focus on the matters that I am supposed to be studying as opposed to pondering most of the topics posted here, although Im sure the information I am taking in here will come in useful at some point in my studies so it's all good
