it really is dave, there will be thousands of hackers from all over the world there, but you in all reality you should attend all three days, that is when it is really worth your money, plus the afterparties and all that fun stuff, so, for one day, i dunno... still there will be all kinds of presentations, all kinds of people spealking, like the guy who wrote kismet (who by the way worked with manufacturers of some wireless routers and made a set of custom made ones for the conference, they are insane, like if you try to attack them and they detect that (say you use some sort of flood) the access points will actually team up and kill your connection (perhaps ruin your wireless card... not sure)

i actually know this guy seth, who was planning to make a war room, with a glass table, a projector shinint onto it and what is going on in the hall, network attack-wise, is all nicely and graphically displayed on the table.... that shall be sweet...

Back from Hope :eek_big:

what a blast, actually, if you ever want to visit NYC, you should visit it for this convention, the 50 bucks that it's worth (75 at the entrance) plus hotel and food, is well, well worth the trip. There were over one and a half thousand computer users there, and i bet that at least 700 of them were hackers in various fields that do crazy things.... The net adminst are fun too, because every time they use different schemes to protect the network from getting owned... last hope, they had a ring netork layout setup with twisted pair between servers (like 450 mhz boxes). this year, aside from having custom made wireless access points (the writer of kismet (the best wireless penntesting help tool ever made) worked with a manufacturer to actually make them) they werent using TCP IP as the communication protocol between servers, and last time they ran linux servers, this time the servers ran VMS... and it was funny that so many people actually tried to get into the boxes using root (if i am not mistaken, VMS'es admin user is "system")

anyhow, it was a blast, but its time to go to bed, because i only got like 8-10 hours of sleep since thursday knight....
