You learn something new everyday.

I heard those words at a very young age from my father, not fully understanding it I took it as a challenge!

"I do not think much of a man who is no wiser today then he was yesterday"

-Abraham Lincoln

So what have you learned today?

Today I learnt more life lessons than science ones, about how people react to situations, how they play mind games with others (and themselves) plus various other aspects of our weird species that I contemplated at length.

Also I learnt that the story of drunken elephants is naught but a myth..

I learned about base 60 sexigesimal that the babylons used.

Its easy to use your hands for base 60

on one hand you use your 4 fingers they are devided into 3 sections

gives you 12 on the other hand you have 4 fingers and at thumb 12 X 5 is 60

and 60 is the 1st number you can devide by 1,2,3,4,5 the 4 fingers and thumb

also read about how they figured out

60 sec

60 min

24 hours in a day 12 day time 12 night time you have 2 hands with 12 on each.

12 months

4000 years ago they built clocks long before europe

also how navigation is based off base 60 say 1h 34m 22s

1h 34/60 22/3600

anyway I ending up on the base 60 tangent by learning more about parabolics. I wanted to find out who and when the math for parabolics was started. I saw some babylon clay tables from 4000 years ago with geomerty on them
