alright, since you asked here is my difinative week one analysis....(deep breath...)

starting with the season opener...daunte culpepper looked OK. he threw for 262 BUt no touchdowns and two interceptions. throughout the preseason Daunte had issues throwing touchdowns as well...at the moment i dont have the statistics but i dont think he threw more than three or maybe four. that will be something to watch as the season progresses, because it looks like the dolphins passing game will have to carry the load. in his first game as feature back (meanwhile ricky tokes up an canada...:hihi:), Ronnie Brown rushed for only thirty yards on 15 carries. ghastly to be sure .

now to my game of the week :hihi:...the falcons, the best team of all time ever, beats the favored panthers by 14. many have picked the panthers to win it all...including SI for like the third year in a row...:)...and i think that the falcons suprised many folks by shutting them down. the defence was downright NASTY, picking off a pass, sacking jake delhomme four times and forcing three fumbles. much thanks from a fan to free agent aquisition John Aberham, who got two sacks and two fumbles forced. apart from that, the best quarterback in the nfl Mike Vick looks consistant, carrying that from the preseason, warrick dunn looked very good and an unsung hero of this one is rookie RB jerrious norwood, who had 66 yards on only ten carries. NFC WATCH OUT!!!! :D :hyper:

the AFC better watch out for san diego. Rivers looks consistant, Tomlinson is reliable as always and he defence is going to absolutely kill some people this year. second year man Shawn Marriman was all over the feild, not only making good sacks (very lawrence taylor-esque), but also playing the run very, very well. opposing defences are going to have big time trouble stopping him this year, and there are a few other excellent players on the defence. if they stay healthy and one of their wide recievers step up besides gates, then i would say they could be sleepers to lose to the falcons in the super bowl...

my final game of the week was baltimore and tampa bay. the D got a shutout, and the offence was actually potent as the ravens won 27 to naught. McNair could be dangerous again, and as always the defnece was inhuman, ray lewis looks like hes 25. jamal lewis had a solid game running for the ravens as well. the bucs will be a huge flop this year, they dont have a runnign game and their passing game is in the hands of an inexperienced quarterback with no accuracy. they may win a few because of their defence, but even they are getting old and tired. i wouldnt see them doing better than 7-9.

My Players of the Week:

1. Charlie Batch, QB, Steelers, the backup threw for 206 and two touchdowns against a good secondary in miami.

2. Kurt Warner, QB, Cardinals, the ancient one threw for over 300 yards and three touhdowns in a shootout.

3. LaDanian Tomlinson, HB, Chargers, the best HB in the NFL goes for 31 attempts for over 130 yards and a touchdown in a rout.

Games to Watch: Week Two:

Pittsburgh and Jacksonville are going to duke it out on monday night...a coulple of solid defences and OK offences. i dont know yet if Rothlisberger will play for the Steelers, but if he does ill pick them to win it by 10. otherwise, jacksonville by three.

Be sure to tune in and watch my Falcons put a royal whooping on the crappy bucs in an NFC south matchup. i got the falcons by at least 15.

Kansas City at Denver should be a good game. the broncos are coming off a loss and so are the cheifs...what im wondering at the moment is wheather or not cheifs pro-bowl quarterback Trent Green will be able to play after the killer hit he took sunday. if he does...cheifs by 10. EDIT: green is out at least two weeks, so denver by 5.

Finilly, every single year washington plays dallas and it is always one to remember. do you recall last year on monday night? i will be interested in seeing how involved Terrell Owens gets in the Cowboys offense, but more importantly, will the Redskins all-pro HB Clinton Portis play? if he does start, i would say 'Skins by 3

thats all for now...see you next week! :)

Go Chiefs......

GO CHEFS!!

OK, so the Bears walluped the Pack. Is this a surprise? No. However, the fact that they blanked them, now that is a feat.

The Giants will make it to the playoffs, so will the colts.

I really liked the way the Lions played against the Seahawks. I mean, booo Lions. Ok, the Lions did way better than I thought they would. For their sake I hope they do well this year, they deserve it, so long as the bears beat them at least 1 time this year.

Hey what about the Giants kicker, Jay Feely. How many kicks can he miss that wide of the posts. Going back to last year he has failed them time and again. While the Colts won by 5 not 3, that could have been a momentum turning point, considering the field position they gave up with that miss.

I think someone needs to send him to NFL Europe to refocus that powerful leg, and refind the accuracy he used to have. This is an 80% maker who failed them immensely in the Playoffs and again on Thursday night.

Get used to seeing Culpepper looking OK.. Hes just not that good of a QB. His hands are too small, he needs exceptional receivers (and thats multiple to thin the defense out) he cant see the whole field and he doesnt spend time learning new tricks (or memorizing old ones), hes easily distracted and concentration is always an issue with him. Someday hes going to be an outstanding back up QB.

Week 1 is officially in the books! :) ...

Giants lose, on a national stage ...

Reactions?

Son of a b5ysegp;r8otyuwn89 67w34-!!!!!

I lost my voice yelling at the screen. How I love football, and the intensity it brings in me.

Giants truly were the better team Sunday night. They lost due to their own errors, and there's no excuse for that. I'll reserve judgement, but I fully anticipate a quick recovery from their game 1 misstep.

Also, has anyone else noticed the Redskin cheerleaders? My god man, what are they feeding those girls in DC? :esmoking:

yeh, i remember how happy i was that the falcons got rid of him afew years back. speaking of the dirty birds....how bout Micheal Koenan? not only is he a 45 yard average kicker, but he is also kicking feild goals for the Falcons this year...and he hasnt missed one yet...including the preseason.

I agree, only I think he is an outstanding backup qb today, not someday. They need to pull in their 2nd stringer.

I'd say the same about the cardinals. I don't care if Warner had a good game. The man is old, he's an outstanding backup QB. Put the rookie, Leinert, in. The reps he gets this year will make him one of the top 5 QBs by next year.

Oh yah, forgot they picked him up. Why? I don't know. It's just like the Bears picking up Jim Miller. Why? My brother used to say he was the best QB they had. I said if he was the best, they needed to fire their QB coach.

I think they did the next year.

Yah, first time.

I have watched the Bears since I can remember.

I vaguely remember the super bowl team, but I was only 5.

I have particularly paid interest in the Bears for the past 3 years, watching their rookies, and the new guys how they perform etc.

I don't think the Bears have any particularly explosive players that everyone will talk about for years, like Barry Sanders or Walter Payton. I even think that some of their pro-bowlers are talked up a little much.

What I do think they have is a significant number of really good (NFL wise) players. More so than any other team. Their rookies, and the new guys they have added this year filled spaces that were lacking last year.

I still consider their biggest weakness to be their defensive backs (safeties and cornerbacks). This I think is one of the toughest positions in the NFL, so I still think they have at least an average level of playing in these positions, if not better than average.

I really think they'll win at least 12 games this year provided everyone stay healthy. I also think they have a significant shot at the super bowl. Problem is I don't necessarily know how all the other teams are stacking up this year. I'm just comparing this year's team to last year's, and I see significant improvement.

They are the deepest in the NFL at QB with all three having started at least 8 games and won a significant number of them. They have a huge depth at HB with TJ, CB, and AP. While Adrian may be their third string, he still has the ability to produce and block for the QB like most other 1st string HBs, they have a new set of receivers that are just blowing me away. They have a FB and a TE that are producing in positions that the Bears traditionally do not use at all (thus a major spreading out of the field for the competitions defense).

They have almost all of their #2 starting defense returning from last year.

They currently are ranked 12th after week one, but that was against Brett Favre (who although old can still make better downfield passes than 75% of the NFL's qb's.) I think by week 4 when they play Seattle they will be ranked in the top 3 defenses, because their next two opponents just don't have the offense capable of gaining that many yards against them.

Oh and certainly don't forget their special teams. Last year they went through several punt and kick returners who just couldn't hold on to the ball. They upgraded majorly in these positions, which to me will be the most decisive part of this season for them. That and Robbie Gould has improved as far as I can tell, nailing all of his kicks thus far this year.

hahahahaha. you know...they got marcus vick down there in miami playing wideout. did he make the team? i think he did. another miami QB to watch if they didnt cut him si Cleo Lemon...i watched him play for the chargers last year in preseason and he looked really good. better than both brees and rivers...keep an eye on him...he may be good for another team even if he doesnt play for the 'fins.
