Tarantism Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 The Pack just traded Samkon Gado, a very talented young HB to the Texans.he was really good for them last year...ahman green is on the down-slope of his career i think...they got rid of najeh davenport (sp?), thats a strange move for green bay. who did they get do you know? i dont even think gado will get many reps in Houston...they have a good HB in Davis...and two good backups in Morency and...nevermind i just saw that the texans traded Morency...that seems silly to me. but, on the bright side Morency will get carries in GB, and it seems to me that they got a good young back now. do you guys think that since Dion Branch got traded to the Seahawks Doug Gabriel will start for the Pats? he is a good, quick deep threat wideout that has looked good for the Raiders. i cant believe they traded him and kept that whino porter. Tarantism Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 So are the Bears really that good, or are the Packers just that bad? First time in his career (I think) that Favre's been shut out.i think the bears may have the best D in the league...(besides the Almighty Omnipotent Falcons...of course...;)) Quote
Racoon Posted September 18, 2006 Author Report Posted September 18, 2006 Week 2 Officially in the Books :) http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/scores?weekNum=2&season=Regular A fairly precitable week, with a couple of very good games.Giants had a great win over the Eagles. Falcons and Seahawks both 2-0.Chiefs lose a close one in Denver :( And Big Dog's 49ers look like they have a shot at a wild card... 1-1 now after a solid game Next weeks match-ups will be great.. especially the Giants @ Seahawks :hyper: Quote
InfiniteNow Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Next weeks match-ups will be great.. especially the Giants @ Seahawks :)Absolutely... In all honesty, I am somewhat concerned. Seahawks look really good. However, we did have a huge come back win yesterday against the Eagles. That's one type of bird down, so what's another? :( I'd love to enjoy the game with you man... Drinking lots of beers and arguing over the outcome... It would be sweet. I suppose I'll have to withhold my bragging comments for the following day here at Hypography instead of trash talking to your face! :hyper: Quote
cwes99_03 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Giants should not have won that game. It was a stupid mistake that got them into Jay Feely range (less than 35 yards away). In fact Jay Feely almost missed the kick (it hooked hard left but stayed just inside the left post).Feely needs to be replaced. Also, I don't know what Plexico said, but it must have been tough because that O line finally stepped up. They let Eli get sacked like 8 times. That's why an Eagles player currently leads the boards for sacks. Most impressive for Rex Grossman, now with the highest QB rating among all NFL quaterbacks so far this year. Check out http://www.nfl.com/stats for all the latest info. Bears are now into 4th place over all for their defense, with 3rd 4th and 5th basically in a tie around 255 yards per game average. Ray Lewis was bragging too much. They haven't played an offensively sound team yet this year. But they are in the number one spot defensively with only 152 yards per game allowed. (They played the worst team in the NFL, the Raiders this past weekend.) What about the Minn. game. Carolina screwed the pooch royally there didn't they? Quote
Tarantism Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Alright, week two down...there were a lot of close games this week. the monday night game was good one to watch, tight until the very end. Josh Schobee came out and did his job well. i remember when he was a rookie a few years back and barely made the Jaguars roster in preseason...now he is an able kicker with a reliable leg. Brian Leftwich wont ever develop into a star quarterback in the league...he will be average or just above at best. however, his recievers i think will bail him out and continue to make him look good. this week there were two standouts...Matt Jones continues to establish himself as a wepon and Reggie Williams had a great game, 8 catches for 95 yards. i could say the same thing about Ben Rothlisberger...he really doesnt put up big numbers and if they go anywhere this year its going to be because of the defence and Hines Ward and the tight end Heath Miller. Speaking of Defence, the Jags looked tough. Leftwich has injury troubles, but even if he does get hurt again the Jaguars have one of the best and most unknown backups in Dave Gerrard. What can be said about the Eagles-Giants game? the eagles looked dominant early, getting to Eli Manning and making the Giants defence look average. Donavan McNabb looks like he and Donte Stallworth are making strides in the passing game, and third year man Reggie Brown caught a touchdown pass. Brown has good speed and pretty good hands, and i think he will have a good year as a starter. Also, keep and eye on LJ Smith. he will find holes in coverage because of his anonymity...he caught 7 passes for 111 yards But, the fourth quarter was all Giants, but Plexico Burress got lucky with that fumble recovered for a touchdown. Amani Toomer had a solid game with 2 catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns. the offensive line may give the Giants trouble when the play good defences, that could be their achillies heel. ahhh yes, many writers chose tampa to beat atlanta at home on sunday morning, but Atlanta appears to be a much better team than anyone but me thought :D. they ran for over 300 on the ground, and Mike Vick looked solid again in the passing game. if they keep this up i think there are very few teams in the league who can stop them. also, the defence disrupted the passing game of Chris Simms, who looks terrible. they have a rookie backup in Brad Gradowski, i wouldnt be suprised to see him playing some by the end of the year. PS, defensive end john aberham looked good in the opener but unjured his groin and didnt even play in this weeks game. also, sack leader patrick kerney god very limited action and the defense still looked good. just both ends should be back next week, and we are expecting MLB and run stopper Ed Heartwell to be back by week four or five. just wait...:) it looks like the Panthers need Steve Smith, and that may not even help them too much. the only bright spot on the defense is Julius Peppers and we knew he would be good. i dont know if the Vikings are contenders or just an average team. so far they have played two underachieving teams and have barely beaten both. however, the defense looks OK...and i have never been a Brad Johnson fan. Chester Taylor looks ok but we will see if he can stay healty and continue to be a workhorse. My Players of the Week:1. Warrick Dunn, RB, Falcons, the aging back looks as good as ever with his second straight 125+ rushing game. 2. Drew Brees, QB, Saints, after a shoulder sugery in the offseason, Brees looked good this week with over 350 through the air and two touchdowns on his way to a suprising second saints win.3. Donald Driver, WR, Packers, even though it was in a losing effort, Driver had a good game with 8 catches for over 150 yards. Games to Watch: Week Two: (season record 2-2) Pittsburgh will have a shot at getting their offense going again against an ailing Bengals defense. last week their star linebacker David Pollack was lost for the season and we will have to see if the backups can pick up the slack. if i am correct and the guy playing is Odell Thurman, then they should be OK. the corners shold give Rothlisberger trouble again, and the Bengals a very good offense. i think that if the Defense does its job then the Steelers should win it, but i think that Cincinnati will be too much for the low morale of a Monday Night loss. Cinci by 7. every single year when Jacksonville and Indy play, its a good game that seems to go right down to the wire. Indy is a good team, but without a reliable rushing attack, will the Jags capable secondary be able to simply drop back and play soft? also, how much protection will the lines provide? the jaguars have a good blitzing game and Robert Mathas and Dwight Freeny for the Colts know how to get after the quarterback. but, Dwight Freeny is small and has issues with the run. if Byron Leftwich doesnt make many mistakes then ill say Jacksonville by 3. the Saints have gotten lucky the first few weeks. their only capable run stopper is DE Will Smith, and they are about to go up against the powerful Falcons, who are full of momentum. also, Atlanta is getting two great ends back from injury so they should get at the run quite well. and the saints dont have a reciever, but even if they did atlanta has two solid corners in Pro Bowler DeAngelo Hall, and rookie gem Jimmy Williams. Atlanta by 10. the Chicago defense is dominant. they faced some critisizm for their line and people were saying that lance briggs is too small, but they have looked very good. also, Rex Grossman is a good QB when healthy. so, its about time that Minnisota got a real test from a good D. i think that people will begin to see Brad Johnsons real colors...he is old and inconsistant, and he cant throw the deep ball. expect the Bears Defense to have another good day, and win by 15. see you after week three! :) /forums/images/smilies/banana_sign.gif Quote
TheNaturalStep Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 What do you guys think about inter do you think sven goran will be the manager of the team .... is Zlatan doing good? Quote
cwes99_03 Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 I love it that people always throw the caveat on Rex (when he's healthy). I don't know if the poor guy has just had a couple of bad breaks with the ankle and the ACL. I have to say that getting injured when diving for a touchdown should not happen. I'm really hoping that the PT he's working with are doing everything in the world to make sure that he is getting the best diet and workout he can to keep himself free of injury. That being said, I don't think that the Vikings will score more than 6 points against the Bears. I also think the D is going to step it up a bit and will get 2 interceptions and finally force a fumble (the week one fumble was attributed to special teams). They will have to stop Minnesota's run game to accomplish this.I agree with T, that this is going to be the D's weekend, but Rex is still gonna pass for 250+ yards. I also think that the run will pick up 80-100 yards for a near 400 yard game, against Minnesota's defense. I think the key right now for the Bears is to get that rushing game moving. They have yet to score a touchdown by rushing, otherwise the opponent will quickly kill their passing game if not rectified. Quote
Zythryn Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Yeah, da Bears are going to be very very difficult. The Vikings are going to need to get all cylinders running to have much of a chance. The protection for Brad especially. I look forward to the game:) Quote
infamous Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Jacksonville Jags are looking mighty tough, beating the Steelers is no easy task. They may go a long way this year........................Infy Quote

I suppose I'll have to withhold my bragging comments for the following day here at Hypography instead of trash talking to your face!:) I disagree IN.. Seahawks haven't looked good at all yet :cup: They've had 1-2 good quarters against the Cardinals, but have looked shakey and out of sinc offensively..Hopefully the addition of Deion Branch will help solidify them...:) And I would love to buy you a couple rounds during the game, mate. ;) It should be a good one. fortunate thing its in Seattle, the farthest place to travel, and one of the loudest environments... :) Could be Epic! Racoon Posted September 21, 2006 Author Report Posted September 21, 2006 Why dont we talk about real English football Becuz' World Cup is over, and National Football League trumps all in the United States. It is a Juggernaut that you Euro's apparently can't comprehend or appreciate. Compare the ratings. No one gives a crap about soccer here (in the US) aside from some Latinos and 5-10 year-old-leagues.. Have fun kicking the ball around for 3 quarters and having the World Cup final determined by penalty kicks. Gimme saturday college football, Sunday NFL, and Monday Night football any day! :cup: Football vs. soccer rant over... Quote
cwes99_03 Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 Jacksonville Jags are looking mighty tough, beating the Steelers is no easy task. They may go a long way this year........................Infy Yah, I totally agree. While I missed Monday Night's game (stupid ABC selling rights to ESPN), I have heard accounts of the story (oops someone broke the law by relating an account without authorization from the NFL).I've also seen the stats. I am concerned that the Jags might have the defense to beat this year instead of the Bears. Here's hoping they remain healthy :naughty: . Quote
cwes99_03 Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 Oh and one more thing. Falcons can't run the ball against teams like the Bears. That's why they will always be 4th best in my mind. TheBigDog 1 Quote
