cwes99_03 Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 Ok, we shall. But, I'm not convinced that the Ravens really are that good (having played one mediochre and one bottom of the NFL team). Thus far the Skins haven't played all that well either, having lost to the Vikings. Even though they all play in Georgia, I think the Giants, Cowboys, and Steelers will be the most defensively tough teams the Falcons face this year. Quote
InfiniteNow Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Could be Epic!Epically pathetic! :D That was a hard game to watch, and I must admit, I am glad we weren't watching it together. I'd have had a hard time hiding the shame I felt for my team of preference's performance. Seabiscuits looked really good. I changed the channel myself... If only the Giants could start playing BEFORE the 4th quarter starts, they may actually have a chance. :bwa:  Quote

The score is not indicitive of the closeness of the game.Seahawks gave up starting the 4th. Jeremy Shockey's comments after the game are especially disconcerting. :bwa: More to follow... cwes99_03 Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Okay. I unfortunatly missed a lot of the games this past weekend. I also do not have ESPN. BUT I CAUGHT THE SCORE THIS MORNING!!! Anyone want to say something about the game I didn't see, saints vs. falcons Quote
Zythryn Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 The Saints were so emotionally pumped up it wasn't funny.Atlanta wen't 3 and out, tried to punt and had the punt blocked. Saints recovered in the endzone for a touchdown. At this point they got even more pumped up:) I would not have wanted to have been their oponent;) Quote
Tarantism Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 the worst thing that the falcons could have done is let the saints score early. after that, the emotions of the saints took over. terrible game :) Quote
cwes99_03 Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 Since I did not see the game I guess I will have to compare your comments with other articles. Is there no one here who will offer a technical overview of the game to show what mistakes were made, or perhaps the idea that one team simply was better than the other? :)Maybe it was partly emotionally powered. Maybe it was an injury that lead to that outcome. I don't know I didn't see it. Off to NFL.com/stats Quote
Tarantism Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 well...the falcons had the first possesion, and the tone of the entire game was set during that possesion. mike vick nearly fumbled on third down and then on fourth the falcons had a kick blocked and returned for a touchdown. on the following drive the falcons took the ball down the feild for a touchdown, but after that it was all Saints. they used the emotiion of playing the home opener to carry them through the game. i read a quote for a fan on the falcons website yesterday that i thought basically summed it up. he said "im not going to make any excuses. we got out played...this time. next time they have to come to our house". i think that because the saints were so emotionall charged all game, they had he leverage from that first touchdown all of the way through the game. it seemed like no matter what the falcons wanted to do they were stopped. warrick dunn had less than 40 yards i think. the recievers were blanketed all night and mike vick had trouble getting the ball in a spot were the revievers could catch it, and it seemed like when he did, they receiver would drop the pass. in short, they most annoying game of the year thusfar...but atlanta has a game coming up against the cardinals, and weather its the underproductive Kurt Warner or the rookie Matt Lineart starting, i think that the Falcons will get it back together in week four. cwes99_03 Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 Yah, I don't think the Cardinals shown to have what it takes. Your description proves my thoughts a bit. 1) the saints have it in them to play extremely well, if they have the drive to do it (probably most NFL teams have it in them if they are motivated enough) 2) all fans are alike - they will always believe that next time it will be different, even after a sound thrashing (Cubbies fans aren't unique.) I saw part of the Bears game, and the one thing I heard over and over is that the officiating was deplorable (that bad calls went against the Bears only). I saw about 30 minutes around half time to say that I saw some good play making by both Grossman and Johnson. The score to me should have been wider with the Bears winning by 10 to 14 points. The Bears in fact forced two fumbles and one recovery ended in a game winning TD. However, I said to truly shut down the vikings and win the game with ease they needed a couple of interceptions. This never happened and it game down to the last few minutes and that second fumble recovery to win the game. The one disapointing point was the Grossman interception (his second of the game) for a 7-yard return for a TD. Note the Bears defense did not allow a touchdown in multiple tries by the Vikings, and 10 of Minn's 13 points came off of Rex Grossman interceptions. Likewise the Ravens pulled off a last minute win to stay on top of the Browns. Both teams remain ranked in the top 4 defenses with San Diego now at number 1 (having only played 2 games.) Ravens vs. San Diego next week, let's see what happens. Quote
Racoon Posted September 29, 2006 Author Report Posted September 29, 2006 Fox Sports Power rankings. take it with a grain of salt. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/powerRankings Seahawks Vs. Bears will be a Huge game... :naughty: #3 vs. #4"C'mon Bad Birds!" No Shaun Alexander this game. (bad foot). Mo' Morris = Mack Strong are the RB & FB ;) Quote
cwes99_03 Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 The no shaun part, has that been decided yet?I heard he was in Holmgren's office Monday or Tuesday jumping up and down on the foot without any cast or boot, saying he was miraculously healed. I agree I'm excited to watch it, but when am I not excited to see a Bears game. Bears by 3  Interesting article on the comeback QB's so far this year. This weeks best game picksColts at Jets. These two QB's have been outstanding this year so far. Should be a high scoring game. They also have two of the best WR in the game in Coles and Harrison. Can we say airfest, or maybe TD fest? Who would want to miss the Ravens vs. Chargers. These two teams are in the top three among defenses. Will they both be in the top three after this weekend? I bet the Ravens have a much harder time stopping the chargers and LT than their previous opponents. Maybe that will give Rivers a chance to make some plays (doubtful). Chargers should win this one hands down. Saints at Carolina. Can Drew Brees keep the Saints undefeated? Will be a tough game, even with Carolina down a couple of players, unless the Saints can carry that emotion from Monday Night's game. I also think Eagles vs Packers will be a good game to watch as both teams are pretty decent.Perhaps Pats vs. Bengals too. I don't know why (Browns have been doing pretty good compared to previous seasons) but I think Oakland vs Cleveland will be the stinker game of the week. Quote
Tarantism Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 "The Raiders had their best Sunday of the season last weekend. Of course, they didn’t have a game." :) ooooh thats harch vic! Quote
cwes99_03 Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Big deal, not hard to compare one bad game against 2 other seriously awful games. Or am I being too harsh on them as well. I should note I have a cousin an hour away who has been a Raiders fan for a very long time. Even he says they stink. Quote
Tarantism Posted September 30, 2006 Report Posted September 30, 2006 so what games are you guys excited about this weekend? falcons/cardinals...atlanta by tenpatriots/bengals...bengals by 7seahawks/bears...bears by 3san diego at baltimore....chargers by 10 season record 4-4 Quote

Racoon Posted October 2, 2006 Author Report Posted October 2, 2006 Seahawks / Bears could be interesting. :) What could have been a good game turned into a pummeling :hihi: I had to turn the game off! Oh well, at least they got the "unbeaten" label off their backs. ;) I was interrupted by a couple 7th Day Adventists trying to find converts. I messed with 'em for awhile. They couldn't really answer my questions except that "they interpret the Bible differently" :D Week 4 officially in the books. cwes99_03 Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 I was about to ask what they were doing that late at night, but then I remembered your on the West Coast. I was delighted with how Da Bears played. I still think that there was room for improvement on the OL, but Rex showed great wisdom in curling up for a couple of sacks and in rolling out and throwing the ball away. He only threw one pass that nearly got intercepted as far as I saw, and it was a throw away pass, ( a second throw away pass he didn't throw deep enough, but it was high enough that a great leap in the air only managed to get a fingertip on it). Who wasn't impressed by the bears DL and linebackers. Even the CBs and Safeties got into it. At one point in the 4th quarter (the last drive by Hasselbeck) I could swear it looked like Matt was on the verge of tears (possibly because of some painful hits to already sore ribs). He was obviously frustrated, no upset, at how his offensive line performed. He was sacked I think 6 times and hit 4 more times.Tommie Harris and Alex Brown teamed up on Hasselbeck, and Td-off on him. This against pro-bowl tackle Walter Jones. Even Madden seemed speechless as Jones let Brown through time after time. Can't say it is all his fault though. Brown was pushed deep behind the pocket over and over. Just happened Hasselbeck had to fall deep into the pocket to avoid Harris repeatedly. That being said. I credit this win to the entire Bears team. They really fired on all cylinders. Jones rushed for I believe 98 yards before being taken out (darn it man let him get his 100). Benson rushed for quite a few yards too. Grossman threw for over 200 yards again. Gould kicked several FGs even a couple of deep ones in one of the windiest stadiums in the league. And the defense hammered the Seahawks offense into multiple sacks, multiple interceptions and if I remember correctly even a couple of fumbles (though they may have been ruled imcomplete passes.)
