isnt it funny how we make our most ape-like sounds and gestures during sex and anger?
i should have rephrased it to "funny" or "coincidental"

Yes it is funny. No, I do not think it is coincidental. Acts of anger and sexual pleasure are pretty much the most basic actions that us humans can revert to.

These are the times that we are most "primative", and animal-like.

Ape noises? Am I the only one who burst out into Gilbert and Sullivan songs at climax?

I am the very model of a modern Major-General,

I’ve information vegetable, animal, and mineral,

I know the kings of England, and I quote the fights historical

From Marathon to Waterloo, in order categorical;

I’m very well acquainted, too, with matters mathematical,

I understand equations, both the simple and quadratical,

About binomial theorem I’m teeming with a lot o’ news –

With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse.

At this point the chorus starts, and I have a devil of a time getting Shannon to sing along, assuming she hasn't already left the room.

Quite interesting, matter of fact.

A good example, as well, would be when you charge in for battle, screaming "AAAARGGGHHH!!!" involuntarily, or, at least, unconsciously. Agression and the sexual impulse lies much deeper in our brains, tapping into the reptilian core of our brains, unchanged and unfiltered by the thin veneer of the cerebral cortex which distinguishes us from our ancient cold-blooded ancestors.

Apes actually display the beginnings of what could be termed 'culture', and if we keep the similarity of brain design between them and us in mind, I think that the noises they make during sex and anger is also touching a deeper wellspring of emotions than normal ape 'culture', and is probably also performed unknowingly or, at least, involuntarily.

I actually brought this up with my girlfriend this weekend as it had me wondering. She laughed and told me I sounded more like a lion, which turned me on and, well... the rest was just additional research into the matter. :steering:

I love it when random hormonal attacks get the best of us. :steering:

---nahh , every animal does it (not just sexual occurences too)

I wrcekon even the plankton make some sort of , well maybe not sound, but other type of seemingly illogical reflex.... but thier is logic to the sound,

-Sexually

Sound: Exertion - sounding can provide for air.

Sound:Repetition/Stroke -basic autonomity of action takes over - sometimes people playing the piano and concertrating on it will make sounds to the beat. (rap music for example..., could in effect could be just the concentration of the person listening to the rapper, and ending up making beat noices, which would in effect help the rapper keep to the beat)

Sound:Communication - most animals don't speak, but they can communicate otherwise.... without having to concertrate on speaking (because your concetrating on other things), you communicate on a lower level. -->it's also more romantic... speak is reserved for daily working, whereas during intimate moments speaking could ruin the moment.... eg.

Cat says to the other cat, Let's go hunting mice, while being intimate, will probably ruin the intimacy.
