Incidently I no longer "toke"...but that doesn't mean that it should be my or anyone elses decission as to how a person decides to live...it's their decission to make for themselves and their responcibility to accept and deal with the consequences.

No one at the administrative level or none of we moderators are telling anyone here they have to quite smoking weed. As you've said, that's their choice and the cost of that decision will be paid by those who choose to continue with that sort of life style. What we are saying is this; Don't come here advertising your habit or glorifying the use of these chemicals. Don't post here while you,re stoned and above all else, don't expect us to be nice about it if you do.

What is needed is to teach responcibility and consequences to our youth so that they can make an informed decission for themselves when the time comes for them to decide.
For this reason we suggest members limit their focus to medical facts and other useful scientific information and not just on their last experience from a trip on weed or any other illicit compound.............Infy

having read this thread from start to (thus far) finish, i agree with practically every opinion here, from every side of the debate.

i am not really sure how much preaching i can be held accountable for, but, i will make sure that no future glorification of illegal drug use comes from myself.

anytime i find myself searching for answers or insight regarding legitimate scientific information, i will respect those wishes of the administrative staff.

i will, however, continue to freely express myself in poetry and artistic/experimental threads (blatant drug references excluded).

just try to keep an open mind, folks, as i will too.

cheers:)

edited for slight grammatical clarification

Yes. But you don't teach kids how to drink resposnsibly by being a drunk dad every night of the week (I have some experience in that area, in the role of the kid). Teaching them how to smoke weed or take drugs is really not something that belongs in general education, nor in any public forum.

In this messed up, and crazy world, sometimes you need a little "extra", to supplement your Consciousness, that is daily grinded and bombarded by modern living.

Contemporary culture is an ailment requiring analgesia? LOL

The little extra I sometimes treat myself to is a shot of scotch on some evenings. Since I don't smoke anything, and rarely drink, my main kick comes from running and being with friends. Like Southtown I don't buy into the theory that drugs are a necessary evil.

Relaxing is fine, but dependency is a whole 'nother ball game. The way I look at it is, if life is that bad, do the dignified thing and spend your energy trying to fix it instead of escaping. P.S. Been there. Done that.

Haven't we all?

Dependency is weak, but denial is a whole nother ball game. Once you pass that hurtle of not escaping life and start to enjoy it, then it's your right to be able to enhance the good times.

There's a social and an antisocial side to this, that should be acceptable world wide. But first comes that self control thing, which is a toughy.

yeah its also important to understand that there are many different types of drug users. you wont see me in an ally itching myself for no reason and mumbling about how to get my next fix anytime soon.

For all of the health Nazis out there -sugar can cause obesity and all of the health problems that go with it ,diesel exhaust causes cancer: tasty blackened meat causes cancer: salt causes high blood pressure: welding fumes cause cancer, "black lung", and emphesima: chemicals in new cars, carpets, and even paint can kill you too!

Everything out there is "dangerous" to your health and welfare there isn't one thing that you can name that won't cause you harm if taken to an extreme....

Incidently I no longer "toke"...but that doesn't mean that it should be my or anyone elses decission as to how a person decides to live...it's their decission to make for themselves and their responcibility to accept and deal with the consequences. My quote was taken out of context. Of course everything can be considered dangerous.

I was simply trying to prove a point. The point being that saying something as ignorant as "smoking marijuana is NOT dangerous AT ALL... it's magical" is totally untrue.... and if anyone hints in that direction here at the science forums, they can expect to be ripped a new one.

You'll notice that I voted for yes. Marijuana

No health nazi here. Simply a nit-pick for truthful statements.

science brings answers with more questions. And usually a few opinions thrown in.

And when it comes down to people opinionated between what is science and what is not science.... things can get a little out of hand.

I will no longer be posting in this thread.

I would also ask that someone please close this thread. It's causing more trouble than it's worth.

Back and forth pitter patter and what not.
