Jay-qu Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Is that supposed to be an excuse for doing it? I think anyone thats sane could see reason in not pointing a gun at someone.. Quote
pgrmdave Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 The smart thing to do would have been to ignore her and simply let it rest. Quote
jungjedi Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 well,im not sane.that is my point to telling this community.it is fortuitous for me that this thread was here so that i could tell its members whats up with me before they find out.i dont think my condition is that bad anymore since they cought my condition through the anger management classes.i contacted a pschiatrist who diagnosed me and gave me pharmacueticals that help me reason better.so i think thats whats happening.anyways,i love forums that deal with sceintific research.i was on one that i deeply loved and the people in that community.but, because of my condition at the time.i had to go.so here i am and i am digging this community immensly.so,i just thought ide level with you Quote
Boerseun Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Well, jungjedi, thanks for the disclosure. If you truly have problems in that department, there are lots of people here with similar issues. But, Hypo isn't a board offering help to individuals. We discuss scientific matters here, dispassionately and objectively. Well, that's the intention, at least. If you contribute to our forums in a constructive manner and follow the rules, you should be fine. If, however, you turn everything here into a personal issue about your condition, then you probably won't last too long. So, follow the rules and play ball, and you'll be fine. Quote
InfiniteNow Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 I've never read a single book by Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Dan Dennett, or Christopher Hitchens, although I've read countless online offerings and viewed nearly every debate and youtube I could obtain, and WOULD read their books if my work and school schedules permitted me the time to do so. It's time that everyone came out! Quote
Michaelangelica Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 I've never read a single book by Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Dan Dennett, or Christopher Hitchens, although I've read countless online offerings and viewed nearly every debate and youtube I could obtain, and WOULD read their books if my work and school schedules permitted me the time to do so. It's time that everyone came out! :thumbs_upWhy read Dawkins when you can watch him on TV? Why would I bother reading him?At the moment he is doing a job on astrology, tarot, cards, faith healing, spiritualism, homoeopathy etc. He says science and reason are in retreat with far more new age books being sold than science books. Blind Freddy could tell you that. I don't know who any of the other people are. Quote
Moontanman Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 I read 800 words a minute but I waste it on Science fiction. If it wasn't for spell check I wouldn't be able to communicate with normal people.I like riding motorcycles more than I like scuba diving and I like scuba diving more than anything other than aquariums, fish collecting, fishing, Hmmm..... maybe I don't know what I like after all. A group of guys who have made quite a name for themselves making incredibly logical and cogent arguments in favor of the enlightenment of atheism. They have been labelled with the humorous term, "The Four Horsemen." RichardDawkins.net - The Four Horseman Discussions | Transcript and Video Quote
Michaelangelica Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 I have given up reading science fiction. It is all so grim and idea-bereft. I have given up confessing and putting personal details on the web.Already because of some of my environmental passions I have offended some. There is too much info on me out there already. There is enough out there that would stop me from running for public office ( "Question without notice to The Hon Michaelangelica, Minister for Public Executions, You said at Hypography on. . that. . .") It worries me that kids put such intimate personal details and thoughts on Facebook and the kiddie version of this. Who is to know how, and who, this information will be used 10-20 years down the line. Even now the net is an invitation to predators. Quote
