Making a ferromagnetic fluid

I am interested in making a ferromagnetic fluid. (i.e. a fluyid which strongly attracts magnets)

 

Anyone got any ideas on how it could be done?

Sodium silicate and Iron(II)(III) Oxide.

That might work, but the particles of the Iron Oxide would need to be extremely small: probably 1000 mesh or more.

I'm not sure, but this is my best guess.

Ferromagnetic fluids have been actively studied all around the world. I remember seeing a demonstration in a small state college lab back in 1996. There should be a lot of web material on them.
