You guys might want to see the new (old) house that Gwen and I have moved into. It is 1250 square feet. Two bedrooms, two baths. One bedroom is the library/computer room. Nice big kitchen. Built-in cat door!! Nice back yard with old, old trees. The house is considered an "historical home" in League City, Texas, as it was originally built in 1898.

Take a look. Pix.

Ahhhhhh... It screams 'honey I'm home.' :read: I'll just ease to a squat on yer porch step, have a sip o' lemonade - thank you mam -, and with a wink & a grin, ask you what the other bedroom is. So, nuthin' new in my life to report as I'm on holiday at Hypog to poke a little fun. :P :P

Very charming little house - I like the little bridge out the front

I am about to enter my 3rd Uni exam period and so my appearence here may dip a little for the next month..

Careful now, Turtle. Winking and grinning at a Pagan woman can get you a LOT more than you bargained for. Look at me!!

The second "bedroom" is directly off the living room and is our computer room and library. The "sunroom" (which you can see has lots of windows in the "backyard" pic) started out as an add-on porch around 1925. Then it was screened in during the 30's, then fully enclosed in the years after WW2. It is now Gwen's sewing and quilting room, and is chock full of fabrics and scraps. It also has a daybed--the cats like to "meatloaf" on the daybed and watch the squirrels during the heat of the day.

For better or for worse, I am busy traveling for work again. Not the full time travel of my past, which is a relief, and this time it has an international flavor...

I have made two trips to Europe for work in the past two months. Both trips to Leiden, one with a side trip to Oslo to visit Hypography's world headquarters. Tomorrow I am going to Mexico City, and then on to Queretaro, Mexico.

Queretaro is both the name of a city in Mexico, and the name of a state in Mexico. The full name of the city is Santiago de Queretaro. I guess it is not referred to as Queretaro, Queretaro (New York, New York). I am bringing my camera to see if I can add any pictures to my scavenger hunt collection. If I get any intersting snapshots I will post them here at Hypo.

Maybe we should have a forum dedicated to world travel...

While not nearly as exciting as TBD's trips, I just found out that I'm heading to Michigan on Thursday for 5 days. I've never been, so it should be cool.

My best friend is getting married (I'm the best man) in September, but the wedding shower is this weekend in Michigan. I'm hoping that I can persuade some of the others to join me in a day of hunting Great Lakes agate , but I doubt it. :)

Any Hypo folks in Michigan (I'm going to be in the upper peninsula apparently)?

Gwen and I are hoping to travel somewhere, anywhere, this summer, but it sure doesn't look like Europe, Mexico, or even out-of-state. :graduate:

Work has gotten fiendish busy! Basically, my company is one of a dozen or so putting together a demonstration flight of a new cargo rocket, the "K-1". My responsibilities right now include writing the training guide for new hires (not many yet, but the flood gates will soon swing open), management of the new Mission Control work-stations, and the manager of the hazard and risk databases. We are preparing now for Preliminary Design Review--a pony show to prove to NASA, our Prime Contractor, and our Investors, that we actually know what we're doing, and are worthy of further attention.

10 hour days. Man, am I ever pooped. But it is so much more fun than having nothing to do. :)

So, if Gwen and I manage to take off, it will be in August, and we won't be able to go very far. Lessee, as far as I can drive on 4 tanks of fuel, at an average of 25 gallons a fillup, and 10 mpg: 1,000 miles round trip & $300 for the gas.

Hmmm. Austin looks good. InfiniteNow? Any suggestions?? :D:):lol_haha:

Rocketships, like bees, they sting ;)

That time of year? Music at the grove, bats under Congress bridge, whomever happens to be playing... IMAX. Sit on campus looking at girls. ;)

Really, in August, I tend to stay inside. :lol_haha: Have fun!

Scoffing at your simple 10 hour days. :graduate:

I was supposed to go to Ireland and Australia this summer, but the stupid Department of State is backlogged, and it isn't looking like I'll get my passport for 3 months. ;)

Since I'm "grounded", as it were, I've been going to DC multiple times a week. Fun... but getting kind of old. Looks like I'll be going again tomorrow or Saturday. :)

Major bummer!

I just finished exams and now have a breather for a few weeks before the second semester begins :)

I will be taking 3 main units next semester:

ASP202 - Introductory Astrophysics

Synopsis:

Processes of star and planet formation; celestial mechanics; tides, accretion disks; solar system formation; extra-solar planets; the Sun; interiors of stars and the main sequence; post main sequence evolution; degenerate remnants; the Milky Way; the nature of galaxies; active galaxies; particles and cosmic rays.

MTH203 - Ordinary Differential Equations

Synopsis:

The study of Models of physical problems particularly heat conduction and oscillations, using computer simulation, laboratory experiments and mathematical analysis. Computer algorithms and mathematical techniques for ordinary differential equations using Euler and Predictor-Corrector methods with exact solutions found using separation of variables, integrating factors and substitution methods. The partial differential equations for material transport, heat conduction and wave motion are derived using physical models and solved using separation of variables and computational algorithms. Applications are to wave motion and heat conduction in a variety of practical situations.

PHS202

Synopsis:

(1) Electromagnetism: Maxwell's equations in integral and differential form; electromagnetic waves; applications of electromagnetism. (2) Optics: Geometric optics; polarization; birefringence; optical fibres; interferometry; diffraction. (3) AC Theory and Analogue Electronics: Complex impedance; phasors; resonant circuits; transistors; signal amplification; operational amplifiers; modulation techniques. (4) Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics: First and second laws of thermodynamics; entropy and disorder; phase transitions; introduction to statistical physics concepts.

Should be a good semester :)

You can get your passport expedited for a fee.

Yeah, we tried that. It's still backlogged, and even "expedited" would most likely take right up until school starts.

Not a good idea to miss a couple weeks of school for international travel. :hyper:

Oooohhhh, they make it sound soooooo much more fun than when I took it from a brilliant but unbelievably odd math professor who spoke German much better than he spoke English....I envy you.... :hyper:

The one branch of mathematics that's all memorization, :sleep2:

Oh, dude, I am soooooo GREEN with envy. I wanna swap lives with you!

Good luck. Do good work.

My life sucks! SUCKS!!!!

All I get to do is help design rockets.

Then, they get launched from Woomera, they ain't sending ME to watch. :)

BTW, I will be extreme busy Saturday AM here in Texas. Preliminary Design Reviews.

I'm up to my neck...

Later today I leave on my first "real" vacation in a very long time. I am driving the family to New Jersey where the boys will spend some time with their aunts and cousins while celtfaery and I spend a week in Paris. I am extremely excited. I will have my computer with me because I don't have time off from school, but I don't think I will be spending any time surfing Hypo.

See y'all in August!

Have a great time Bill!
