I got Skype a few months ago but never really tapped the potential until I loaded on some SkypeOut credit.

For those of you that dont know, skype is like an instant messaging program, but it is geared primarily around using your voice, not typing. Good for those of you not so fast with your typing

So basically you can call anyone in the world that has a computer with headphones/microphone, an internet connection and skype installed. For Free. You can also call phones with it aswell, this does have a small fee attached, I called BigDog earlier today and I T briefly just before we spoke for a while and I think it worked out as about 2 cents (aussie cents) a min. Not much, but if a few of us get skype we can talk, conference style if we wish, for free.

Its pretty cool to put a voice to the pages of all these posts that we all read everyday :eek_big:

So if anyone is interested head over to skype.com and skype me

haha yeah I was testing the mic that I have :D

Incase I didnt really make it clear, you use SkypeOut credit to call phones, it can be purchased via the skype website using paypal or credit card etc.

Howdy, Jay old buddy old pal.

Sorry about the 'Boks kicking some Wallaby butt just now. But hey - it's only our second game won in the series, the first one we played against you guys a few weeks ago we lost 49-0. HOW THE HECK that was possible, is anybody's guess. But now we won. At last. Okay, so we're not in the finals. But we won. Today. At last.

But I digress.

How's Skype on bandwidth? I wanna install it, but I ran voice through Messenger and it seems my bandwidth sucks something serious. If Skype is lower on the bandwidth suction meter, I might just give it a go...

Sorry about the Trinations today, but you guys will prolly still kick All Black butt next week.

Damn.

Yeah, JQ called me on Skype last night and we solved the worlds problems in less than half the normal amount of time! I have to say that the connection sounded great. I use Vonage at home so all of my calls are over the net. But unlike some of the calls I make at home there seemed to be no lag or echo at all. If anything my poor cell reception was the limiting factor in the quality of the call (I was on the cell, not the home phone).

Now I have spoken to 3 Hypographers. My wife Celtfaery (who I knew even before I joined Hypography!), the rudely suprised while recuperating Pyrotex, and the spontanious Jay-Qu. Who will be next?

Boerseun, AFAIK it doesnt suck to much bandwidth, but I am on a 1500/256kbps connection.. so i didnt notice any speed reductions while i was surfing and talking at the same time.
