paigetheoracle Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Why is that newspapers and television go on about suspected or discovered terrorisms links as though it's a complete surprise that they (and governments) are interlinked? You wouldn't be surprised to discover, fishermen, fishmongers and fish shops have strong links or that farmers have links with cattle markets or abbatoirs, so why this feinged surprise at links between various terrorist groups/governments - they are after all, all in the same business of killing people and the arms trade after all (Different ideologies but same results surely?). Lets stop the lying and pretending (hiding facts) and get back to a little honesty and reality here! Enough bullshit already exists to fertilize the worlds entire agricultural output for years, so lets have less of it and the treatment of the public like they're six year olds (some are but thankfully not all of us - as The Church of the Subgenius says 'Don't let them pull the wool over your eyes - pull the wool over your own eyes!'). Quote
Igby Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Governments and the news media aren't there for honest discourse, silly! Linking these groups together with flashy, "intelligence breakthrough" type headlines serves to reinforce the enormous threat of terrorism. They're everywhere! :hihi: We as consumers of news have allowed public debate to become nothing more than theatre. Our collective complacency allows shows like Hardball and Today Tonight to see the light of primetime, because we lap this sensationalist crap up. If the public didn't watch these shows, buy these newspapers, and listen to these radio stations, or if there was considerable backlash against the low standard of journalism internationally, things would change. Totally agree - see my posts on crime or the final paragraph on my 'Ingenius Genius' thread. Quote
