suedenation Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 Where in the sky would an observer in Inuvik look to find the North Celestial Pole? Give your answer using the “horizon system” of celestial coordinates. I found that the latitude of Inuvik is 68.19N and the longitude is 133.29W. Thanks for your help. Quote
Jay-qu Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 The horizon system has two numbers associated with it, the angle the object is from north called azimuth and the angle of elevation from the horizon. Since the NCP is always due north the azimuth is 0, and since you are at a latitude of 68.19, using some geometry you should be able to deduce the angle of elevation to the NCP as 68.19  Quote
