pgrmdave Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 I am curious as to the ratio of people who believe in some sort of spirituality vs. those who do not at Hypography. There was a poll like this before that I believe was split roughly 50/50, I wonder if the makeup of the forums has changed. There are three choices in this poll: Theist - this includes any belief that includes a diety or god of some sort Atheist - this is for anybody who does not have any spiritual beliefs Spiritual Atheist - this is for anybody who has some sort of spiritual belief, but one that does not include a diety, such as Buddism, and New Age spirituality If additional choices are needed, I can add them in the future. C1ay Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 Atheist as in a·theist, i.e. not·theist... Turtle 1 Quote
Turtle Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 I went with Spiritual Atheist as it appears the spiritual meme is deeply ingrained in humans but wholly an internal bio-environmental phenomenon. As a human myself I find it a fascinating concept rife with, and for, speculation. :hihi: Quote
Tarantism Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 i put down "spiritual athiest" but really i just believe in the balance. Quote
haloman Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 I am a theist becuase what really created it all was it just here or did something create it, thats my thoughts. Quote
C1ay Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 I am a theist becuase what really created it all was it just here or did something create it, thats my thoughts. That one wants to theorize creation as a possible explanation of first cause should not be a reason in and of itself to believe that theory as fact. The existence of the universe itself is not evidence of a big bang, creation or any other causation of that existence. Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 I'm a theist, I'm proud, and am not ashamed. It's perfectly reasonable that people mock me for my beliefs. I believe strongly in "freedom of religion", or as the title of this thread mentions, "lack thereof". Whatever makes people happy or comfortable is fine with me. :) Quote
Spiked Blood Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 I guess I'm an atheist. I don't believe in god, however, I don't rule the existence of a god out. I like to question answers, not answer questions.:) Quote
ronthepon Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 I believe in no god, but I do worship the mind, consious or otherwise. Boerseun 1 Quote
C1ay Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 I believe in no god....The "belief in no God" vs "a lack of belief in any God(s)" is the root of the false claim that atheism is a religion.... Quote
Southtown Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 What is the difference, would you say? Atheism is a subjective belief system, and a non-empirical one at that. Isn't that kinda what the word "religion" describes, or no? Quote
pgrmdave Posted October 7, 2006 Author Report Posted October 7, 2006 While I agree that there is a debate to be had about 'religious' atheism vs. 'non-religious' atheism, this is not the thread to discuss it. Please open up a new thread if you want to discuss that. Quote

Tormod Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 I guess I'm an atheist. I don't believe in god, however, I don't rule the existence of a god out. This is called agnosticism, and could possibly have been an option in this poll. Quote
infamous Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 I'm a Theist,.......but I didn't come here to preach........Infy Quote
