InfiniteNow Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 I must admit I love the smell of coffee, but was dissapointed to find it didnt taste as good :omg: You just reminded me of a scene in Jet-li's latest (maybe last) movie, Fearless... ;) Quote
Turtle Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 Do you remember his name? I wish I could've seen this show. Always interested in this kind of stuff and growing plants. I wonder how coffee would do with terra preta. I can't find anything on the web yet about it, but I'll keep looking. Good thought about terra preta. :D Quote
EWright Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 Can someone with more coffee knowledge than myself speak to the differences in "blends"? Obviously a breakfast blend isn't as strong as the bolder ones. French and Columbia blends seem to be ranked about the same as far as strength, however I seem to feel the caffeine in the French moreso than in the Columbia, yet I like the flavor of the Columbia better. However, I'm not sure what the differences are. Yes, I could search for the info online, but I thought it would add to the discussion and that this way others could learn from input as well. Quote

InfiniteNow Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 I'm pretty sure he meant a French Press coffee maker.:cup: Wow... Didn't catch that... really. I'm glad you're here to clarify. Really. EWright, I think blends are simply a flavor issue, not a stimulant/caffeine issue, but cannot say for certain and look forward to hearing from someone who does know. Cheers. :) Quote

EWright Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Had a $3.50 short black at a restaurant on the weekend that tasted like burnt toastYuck!OZ :) Would that be a lightly burnt or full-roasted sort of burn? And what type of bread are we talking here? Did you try adding cinnamon and sugar to reduce the bitter taste? Michaelangelica 1 Quote

Mercedes Benzene Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I remember watching the same show Turtle. I believe it was "Modern Marvels: Coffee" on the History Channel. Anyway, it was from that show that I learned the horrors of coffee percolators. They sound positively dreadful, although I have yet to try a brew made through that method. Has anyone here ever had a cup of coffee made in a percolator? Quote

Sounds like good stuff. :) For the last couple days, I've been fighting a nasty flu and racked by coughs, and about the only thing that cheers me and warms me in the mornings and evenings is a few cups of coffee and cocoa. Dean Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 Hi, Gourmet coffee is one of the things I spam forums like these with since I am a moron incompetent to understand the rules here.... Quote
InfiniteNow Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 Over this holiday, I discovered my new favorite coffee drink. It's marvelous. Does wonders for pushing the grit in one's sleepy eyes away like a firehose to a pebble. Cup of coffee with two shots of espresso... :hihi:  :cup: :0318: :cup: Quote
Vagabond -SC2- Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 Infinite just each the freeze dried coffee straight :) Quote
Surattius Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 I can't decide which is worse; instant coffee or the beans that have been shat out by a strange animal. I used to eat instant coffee when I was younger and didn't have time to make coffee. Now I drink too much but I love it and its all I've got in the way of vices what with the kids and husband. Have you tried Wake Up pills? Quote
Buffy Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 Sorry Starbucks fans, the final word is in from Consumer Reports. Read it and weep.... Twoallbeefpattiesspecialsauce...Buffy Quote
maikeru Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 Buffy, I guess that's true. I'm not overly impressed with Starbucks coffee. Instant coffee seems pretty bad in my experience as well. The Nestle instant coffee my mother drinks is bitter and sour. I have the feeling I've become spoiled by what I drink right now. Quote
