sebbysteiny Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 What are the limits of freedom of freedom of speech before the forum moderators step in with the censor. This sceintific test on the tollerence of the moderators will begin with fairly trivial words, and every day the words will get slightly more provocative until the moderators step in and end this thread. Bets are allowed as to how many posts this will last and any such predictions will not count towards the sum total of the length of this thread. Okay, lets start with ............ poo.
Edella Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 A very unique use of the test forum. I remember trying something similar in 6th grade. The game ended when Mrs. Moleneaux simply ignored me.
InfiniteNow Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 Seb, you're a bit like a dog continuously pulling on the leash, extending further and further out. One of these days, if you don't realize the leash is there, you'll get yanked back pretty hard and your neck will snap.
cwes99_03 Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 Either that or he'll extend the leash long enough that he'll be able to play in the street and get hit by the first passing car. WHACK!!! ARF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, lets start with ............ poo.I'll see your poo and raise you. poop, crap, feces, dung, dooky, manure, guano, #2, *** fudge, diarrhea, droppings, scat, corn-in-the-log Actually, I don't think we will cross any lines here. We all know that everybody poops. You need to cross into words that victimize to get smacked around. Think racial slurs like... Indian Bill
Turtle Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 I remember trying something similar in 6th grade. The game ended when Mrs. Moleneaux simply ignored me. I was thinking Kindergarten. :D What are the limits of freedom of freedom of speech before the forum moderators step in with the censor. Get in the game bruh! Testing ones limits at practice is for wimps & gits. :) :hyper:
Boerseun Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 Speaking as a mod, the kind you're trying to test here, I am offended. "Poo." Said as a single word, in no context at all. So, what's the point? Did the word offend me? Nah... So what offended me? What offended me is the pointlessness of this thread. Members get negrepped or banned (temporary or permanent) based on the context of the offending posts and/or threads in which the member transgressed. Very rarely are members taken to task because of word usage - they normally have the common sense and manners to use appropriate language. Spewing out single words as you're doing now, is just juvenile and pointless. So, in order to make an early end to this, I'll be offended. cwes99_03 1
sebbysteiny Posted November 18, 2006 Author Report Posted November 18, 2006 Well, the game is on with a whole range of predictions ranging from the TheBigDog, who believes that I don't think we will cross any lines here. to Boerseun who said in order to make an early end to this, I'll be offended. Even going though a most unexpected prediction that I might play in the street and get hit by the first passing car. Now at first sight, Boerseun's interjection might seem to be the type of censorship necessary to end this thread. But, looking a little deeper, the rules of this scientific experiment clearly states the moderators [must] step in and end this thread By 'end this thread' it clearly means actually close the thread, but it may also mean simply censoring out the 'offending' word. So those who have bet on this being a hole in one have lost there money. The scientific evidence shows this thread will last at least two posts. But don't worry, your welcome to try again :). Odds are now 3:2 that this will scientific experiment will end the next post with 1:1 odds offered that it is closed by Boerseun and 4:1 that it is closed by anybody else. BigDog's prediction that it will never end until racial slurs are used gets an outsiders 32:1 whist cwes99_03's prediction that I will not only play in the street, but that I will get hit by the first passing car gets a slim 100:1. Okay, so the word of the day on day 2, which in my judgement is TWICE as bad as the word on day 1 is ............ poo poo. TheBigDog 1

C1ay Posted November 18, 2006 Report Posted November 18, 2006 What are the limits of freedom of freedom of speech before the forum moderators step in with the censor. One small flaw in your premise though, there is no freedom of speech here. This is a private forum, not one of the government. A small experiment with the search engine here will show examples of ****, ****, ****, etc.. in the forums here. We don't particularly censor words here but we may step in if the context of use violates the spirit of the rules here. Rants, flames, harrassment, etc. is against the rules regardless of the language used. Perhaps this clarafication will give some point to this thread and ease Boerseun's concern :)
