alexander Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 I've worked on this for about 20 minutes, so its a bit rough, but here:Â Quote

IrishEyes Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 alex,My daughter LOVES it! She wants a shirt with THAT logo on it. I told you what a Linux freak my hubby has created, right? The girl sees butterflies and gags now, isn't that beautiful? Everything is "Tux this..." and "Linux that..." They actually discuss how an entertaining weekend would be to reload her laptop with a different version of Linux, just to see what new things would be available. When I made the mistake of asking what they would do if they didn't like the new version, I got the eye-rolled-huffed response of "Duh!, We'd just re-load the first one back on. Not like its a big deal!"Â Oh yeah, right. I knew that! :) Quote
Tormod Posted January 5, 2005 Author Report Posted January 5, 2005 Your family is VERY strange. :) Quote
IrishEyes Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Your family is VERY strange. :) You have NO idea... Actually, it's just those two. The kids all like to play SuperTux, but none of the others have caught the Linux bug quite yet. Michael is into space, Jo likes her dolls, Matty loves sports, Mags thinks she has to have her nails painted in order to leave the house, and Ems loves to dress up like Ariel (ahh ahh ahh, ahh ahh ahh...*keep singing!*). And I love to cook, read, and spend a good portion of my day here.  I guess that makes me the real weirdo, huh? Quote

alexander Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 i dont want to disappoint you, but that really isnt finished, i might work on it a little more, i really wanted that to represent computers and technology section, i dont think that it should represent the entire forum, so i'll work on putting "technology section" on there eventually, and the other thing i wanted to do is make it so Tux will not be exatly there as you see it, i wanted its impression to come out of the background, i just cant remember how to do it... Back to Irish for a second, if you really want to do that, there's nothing better to do than to use VMware and create virtual machines on your system running anything you want, you can run every operating system, in vmware and have it power on/off any time you want it to. actually vmware can do lots more, you can setup vertual networks, test for security holes. The beauty of it all is that if you want to go through the process of setting up a system to run certain OS you can go through the entire installation process configure everything your way and so forth, but if you just want the system, you can download an image that was created by other people, and in this case even vmware has their servers from which you can download virtual machines, all you need to do then is go into vmware menu and point it to the image, and you have an OS without setup, running very well in just the time it takes to download a few gigs without having to be bound to an OS on the box, you can delete the image any time you want to like a file... (p.s. you want vmware workstation, there's a few editions out there) Quote

That's a greast idea! Good thinking. We'll have to create a small style guide or something, then. The font for the slogan must be readable, at least...I'm using a free pixel font so I can send it to you. Quote
alexander Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 yeah, i've been thinking of changing the font, or at least the color to make it more readable... Quote
